Recently my ram has been reaching 80% use coz of multiple browsers and the tabs within them, thinking of upgrading but not sure which to purchase, perhaps you guys can help me out.

Currently using gskill ripjaws 8gb (2x4gb) 1600 MHz, am unsure whether to get another 2x4gb or just go with a 2x8gb to "future proof" the ram amount. Also is it worth upping the MHz, I am aware that if I upgrade the MHz but still using 1600mhz together it will just drop to 1600mhz as well, but I was thinking no point buying 1600mhz now since now already got 2400+ on market, and like I said about the amount of ram my idea for the MHz is to future proof it as well then next time just get extra 2 sticks of ram to replace the 1600 according to the higher MHz one which I had gotten.

Also can CL9 ram be used with CL10 ram? I'm not sure what my ripjaws is but on Amazon I saw some with CL9 and some CL10.

Also I probably intend to get the ram from Amazon as I am also buying stuff concurrently off the site. Pls advise

Edit: nvm about the MHz just realized my mobo only support until 1600 lol Msi b85 g43 gaming mobo

DDR3? If I were you I will get more now. Chances are DDR3 pricing will creep upwards as DDR4 takes over the market share.

It's quite affordable now, just hoot the max your mobo can support. If you really worried overkill, you can always install one 8gb stick first, and if you find it sufficient, sell the 2nd stick away BNIB.

Just get 2x8gb.
CL9 can be used with CL10, like the Mhz it will drop to the slower rating, so CL10 will be used if you mixed both together.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Decided to just go with the 2x8gb and bump up my ram to 24gb :)
