I'm currently running on 2x G.Skill Ripjaws V 2400mhz 4GB RAM, with an ASUS H170 PRO GAMING mobo, i5-6500 processor.

wanna increase my RAM size to 16GB as my 8GB is not sufficient for my current work usage.

what's the cost effective way to upgrade my RAM? add two more 4GB sticks (if so, should I be getting the same sticks or?) or just change the 2x 4GB sticks to 2x 8gb sticks (if so, what 8gb sticks is recommended?)

TIA.

RAM prices now are very high. I suggest looking in the hardware bazaar

Go carousell or hwz marketplace also can. Anyway, your mobo support 2133mhz ram only. If you don't want second hand, you can get any ddr4 2133mhz valueram (either Kingston, crucial, G.skill, etc) also. It's cheap and the same thing as gaming ram.

Sent from Overpowered Phone Mark III using GAGT

Last time when I buy no stock for 2133mhz so I just went for 2400mhz.

So should I be getting 2x 8gb or 2x 4gb will do?

Thanks for the reply.

valueram FTW

Crucial 8GB DDR4-2133MHz - $91
http://www.lazada.sg/crucial-8gb-dd...-dimm-desktop-memoryct8g4dfs8213-3932074.html

KINGSTON DIMM DESKTOP 8GB DDR4 2133 - $89.90
http://www.lazada.sg/kingston-dimm-desktop-8gb-ddr4-2133-8383180.html

weekend got citi promo for 8% (there's also hsbc and maybank I think, on other days. Just check the lazada homepage daily to find out what's on that day...), stack with liveup 10% rebate (for use with future order, not cash)

182*0.92*0.9 (rebate) = approx $150 for 8GB x 2.

vs

http://www.lazada.sg/gskill-ripjaws-v-2400mhz-2x4gb-cl15-2339724.html?ff=1

119*0.92*0.9 (rebate) = approx $98 for 4GB x 2.

----------

I guess whether you go for 2x8gb or 2x4gb depends on whether you forsee any future upgrades. E.g. your mobo supports up to 64GB (4 x 16). If you think you won't ever need to go to 32gb, then max out at 4x4gb should be okay.

wow thanks for all the links and promo provided. I probably won't see myself upgrading to 32gb RAM. So I guess I'll just go for 2x 4gb RAM then.

Can use 2400MHz ram on a 2133MHz compatible motherboard?
