Ram upgrade

I'm using 4GB Kingston Value ram on my asrock b85m pro4. Feel like upgrading. Can I mix ram e.g add another 8GB ram? Any brand?

Can, as long as the frequency in mhz is the same, and best is if the timings are the same as well, to prevent any conflicts. Which is why getting same rams is recommended.

Download cpu-z, under memory tab, look at CL, tRCD, tRP and tRAS. Like mine is 9-11-10-27.

Or you can just plug out your rams and take a look at the sticker.

Hmmm i thought shd be fine if mix and match. The faster one will auto downclock to the slower one.

The key phrase is 'try not to'. You can do it though.
