Random computer shutdown! Please help.

Hi guys, my computer is about 4 years old.

Lately, the computer started to shutdown randomly.

The power will just cut off and it doesn't restart or show blue screen, etc.
i hv to press the POWER button to start it again.

i cant seem to detect any specific event that causes it.
i could be playing a game or surfing facebook or even when the computer went into sleep mode. it will happen too. just power off itself when its in sleep mode.

any suggestions on what could be the problem or how can i narrow down the issue ?

The PSU might be faulty

Had a similar issue awhile back. Try re-sitting your PSU ac cable and/or the 24 pin mobo connector. Works for me, might as well it give a try.

same as me. i re-sit everything. include ram and gpu. my psu is coolermaster

I think it is overheating problem, try to go to your bios and check on the temperature.

yah, i did received some overheating messages at bios b4.
the text is in red and i cannot proceed without going into bios.
but i hv nvr change any settings.

and its random. the last 2 mths i hv not received it liao.

About 4 years liao..I think just change the PSU should settle the problem.

it happen to mi once.
firstly, my com freeze randomly while playing game or watching video

after months. thing get more intense. computer will power off sometime

after weeks. getting into stage4 of dying. my computer will off power when half way loading to desktop. if lucky, it will load up desktop but power off when opening up firefox

im using amd phenom X3 720

i followed zhizhong advice and check my cpu temperature

wah lau!!!
its 100 deg! and system temperature is 40 deg!

but the fan is still working...
wat should i do? replacing the fan will work ?
