Random crashing

What do you do that requires 64GB of RAM though, design softwares?

Might want to run test that was previously mentioned in the thread and provide screenshots.
I do bit torrent server and video encoding once i torrenting minimum need 17gb ram encoding i need 15-25gb depends on 1080p or 4k.

No i don't want put back the two ram to test Liao, don't need test can 90% sure is ram problem.:rolleyes:

I'm still on XMP though as seen below in CPU Z.
I've got a question, why is my stick #1 showing "Single" while my stick #2 shows "Dual" under the "Rank" field.
This is just my observation based on the ram image you shared earlier whereby you have 2 different set of ram kits and my experience with Corsair vengeance are

1. Corsair vengeance lpx = single rank 8GB x 2
2. Corsair vengeance RGB = dual rank 8GB x 2

I might be wrong nevertheless you could double check each stick and see the whether if this match to your ram slot info.

You are considered lucky to run with mixture of single rank + dual rank kit in 4 slot and still can enabled xmp.

idk, since you can confirm its RAM sticks issue, particularly the 2 you identified then perhaps replace them since you require 64GB usage.
Just curious, what test did you do to ascertain its the 2 RAM sticks issue, physical testing only or

Right, so in essence it should either be all Single or Dual rank but not a mixture.

I got 6 bsod yesterday night all memory error not less or equal plus above three all end code 80% got to be somethings with memory.

When the third bsod happen i can go into bios but i didn't change anything and lower mhz 2666 from 3600, can boot up but the whole windows freeze mouse censor can move but screen freeze everything will not load that boom bsod 4th time.


The fifth time i try take out slot 2/4 still same freeze at window the sixth i take out slot 2 left one ram infront can load. So i take out slot one put back 2/4 same kit boom bsod freeze. So i think this set definitely got problem i left it behind try 2/4 again with other set cam open boot load windows normal.

The ram i checked both are abit chipped off so i think this is the problem.

Generally it is not recommended mixture of both, nevertheless if it work on your system then no need to worry too much.

Since you are using Asus motherboard however reference to the MSI screenshot will results in confusion for the system specification although both are using same Z390 chipset.

the following is the correct specification of your motherboard memory:

Your Asus motherboard can support:

1) Capacity = 128GB Max = 4 x DDR4 memory slots
2) Speed = 4266Mhz (o.c.) Max . *per above screenshot any speed at 2800Mhz & beyond is considered as memory overclocking.

Basically your motherboard are designed with 4 memory slots split into 2 Channels (A) & (B) with "dual rank" per channel:

1) Channel A (dual rank) = Slot "A1" (32GB max) + Slot "A2" (32GB max) = Max 64GB

2) Channel B (dual rank) = Slot "B1" (32GB max) + Slot "B2" (32GB max) = Max 64GB

any RAM channel exeed the dual rank per channel does not bring any further advantages to the performance in general, which is why many suggest configuration 1) below:

1) 2 stick MEMORY with dual rank put in slot A2 & B2 is easier to run XMP speed example beyond 3200Mhz, compared to

2) 4 stick MEMORY with dual rank put in slot "A1+A2" & "B1+B2" is harder to run XMP example beyond 3200Mhz with possibility not able to do XMP at all

However if you have 4 stick single rank memory tabulated into 4 memory slots, it will work like configuration 1) of dual rank memory per channel with XMP speed, yet it will depends on the cpu, motherboard, memory quality.

Hope this quick summary help to clear some of your doubt.

I am sure there are many others will have better explanation than me if you need more information on memory configuration.

Got it, so in fact my MOBO can support up to 128GB max.
I believe 64GB would already be an overkill, curious what usage will require 128GB of RAM.

Looks to be fine for the RAM though..
Anyways, I'm using 2 different kind of RAM sticks as I received it and thought of popping it in to get 32GB.
Not sure if its configured/setup correctly.

the speed 4266Mhz is per RAM slot maximum, but normally only work when you have 2 stick together with XMP or manual overclocking.

the memory slot for 4 sticks is really no matter as long as in pair basis

Can easily verify on the memory QVL list. even though still no guarantee when running on XMP.

If you intend to run all 4 DIMMs, especially on a server motherboard, just stick to the QVL list.
