why do u feel that 500/4.5 is worth getting despite such extreme price?

Prime lens is definitely sharper & faster in AF.
the Sigma 150-500mm F5-6.3 at 500mm/F6.3 , the pics are soft & has to be F8 to be sharper.
At this aperture is few stops from F4.5 means few stops higher in iso too. :s22:
At F8 the AF speed is slow & worse still if the ligfhting is not so bright (eg cloudy day). For birding we can't afford to waste any time for focussing, the bird is not going to pose & wait for u, so time & speed is very critical. ;)
Also prime lens is good for taking birds in flight.
