Calm, lasting beauty comes only in a dream, and this solace the world had thrown away when in its worship of the real it threw away the secrets of childhood and innocence. - H.P. Lovecraft

Hello all,

Saw some of the really great shots in the previous pages and was filled with envy. I'm about to invest in a G12, as full-fledged DSLR can't fit in my daily life.

Just wanna ask, what can I expect out of a PNS G12? Are some of the shots like "fireworks" even possible with it?

Thanks for the guidance!

yes it is possible..
Main advantages of DSLRs over point and shoots are mainly sensor size and interchangable lenses.(but there's a lot more to that)
And this translates into good ISO performance when u need it..

As for shots like fireworks, what you need is a tripod and almost any cameras will do a decent shot, of course, having something like G12 means u get to do it pretty damn well as it offers almost DSLR-like features and functions.

A lot of information is out there and google around and u shall find your answers.
Photography at this age no longer requires attending courses like last time.

Spend some time on reading and watching guides on youtubes will equip u with essential knowledge u need for photography, the remaining you'll just have to go out and shoot to experience whats best for you.

Thanks for the informative reply.

My main concern is that G12 wouldn't be able to handle night landscape well, since the subject of my photography will be mainly landscapes.

I plan to get a mini tripod with the G12, bro. Would a dry box with silica gel suffice? Or is there a need to get a dry cabinet to store the G12?

Do read up a little on night photography.
If u have a tripod, any camera can handle night photography, unless your subject is moving, which if u're talking about lanscape, its shouldnt be a problem.

If u're talking about handheld, then yes, pns generally has poorer ISO performance, therefore worse at handling night photography.

As for dry cab, hope some1 else can help u, coz i dont own any~~

imo, for long term wise, It's better to get a dry cab over a dry box with silica gel.
Easily for you to control the humidity level etc. save you more hassle...
