Hi guys,

Looking to purchase the following:

Gigabyte Z170X-Gaming 3
Intel i5 6600k
Noctua NH-D15
Kingston HyperX Fury 32GB Kit 2133Mhz
EVGA SuperNOVA 650W G2, 80+ Gold
Corsair Carbide Quiet 400Q
Zotac GTX1070 8GB Mini (Purchased)

Gaming on 1440p 60hz

Have a few questions:

1. Gaming 3 vs UD3 - which is preferred?
2. I will be running hackintosh and as the 1070 is not supported, I will be using back my old GTX770. The 770 and 1070 will be installed together. Any idea on the power consumption if only 1 card is actively used at any single point of time?
3. Any better alternatives to the parts above? I will be purchasing them mostly from Amazon and the above seem to give the most value

I am a sucker for RAM, right now with my Windows VM running my RAM is kinda almost max-ed out. Since 16GB is not very expensive, I don't mind spending more for the extra headroom.

I think gigabyte best for hackintosh.

I am currently using the Z77-HD3 for my hackintosh and it has served me well. I will prefer Gigabyte hence my choice above but I am not bias-ed against other boards especially so nowadays much more boards are compatible.

2. just wait for more updates when they release the drivers updates. well definitely GTX 770 will be higher power consumpution (by how much i wouldn't know, as it all depends on what's your usage.

Yeah I understand. Sorry I wasn't clear, I am actually asking if the secondary GPU consumes much power when it is not doing the processing and if 650W will be sufficient.

I will be reusing my SSD and HDD so no need to purchase at this moment.

Whatever is inside is fully supported. I think the main things are the Network and Audio. I will not be looking at things like BT/Wifi etc... so relatively hassle free as most are supported.

for me i dun think its enough if u planing on using 2 gpu actively due to dx12 system. but best have 1kW just in case? or do u mean that when u changing the power cable for when u are using windows or hackitosh mode?

So here is the scenario:

Connect my monitor to both GPU, 1 to 770, 1 to 1070. When booted up in Mac, use interface which is connected to 770. When booted in Windows use interface which is connected to 1070.

I wont be using them both together.

ah so that means u will be removing or not the gpu when using the OS (whichever one u gonna use)

if this is the case i think should be enough but if u intend to slots both of them into your system and with pcie power to both gpu den definitely not enough since both are still in the system. (i know they are not both in use when loading that OS u gonna use, but if u intend to power up both gpu at the same time den nope.)

Unfortunately not. Tony (owner of tonymacx86) actually emailed nvidia to persuade them to work on support for 10*0 series for their web drivers. Hopefully things will change.

tonymac86 is not the only Hackintosh site out there. Still have insanelymac forum. For obvious reasons I shall not link the sites here, u can google them up yourself. But I think that with web driver maturity, Pascal cards should be able to work on Sierra, abeit with some hacks and tweaks (hence some patience to DIY some kext commands out yourself). Unfortunately, I can only prove to u that Maxwell cards work on Sierra since I'm running 10.10.12 on my 980Ti. I don't have a Pascal card to test out, but I think swapping graphics cards everytime u swap OS isnt the most elegant solution out there.

Oh I have searched. I am not going to swap graphics card just gonna change my monitor interface. Example: from DVI1 to DVI2. Nothing too complicated.
