Razer Mamba Users

Hi guys,

I'm intending to buy a new mouse. I've gamed in my young days, hence I'm quite picky about my performance of mouse, so far I've narrowed down to either a Razer or Logitech mouse.

I've used Razer Diamondback as my first very mouse and then bought 2 Razer Vipers (because first one spoilt, and then the 2nd one spoilt as well in a yr or something) then after my bro introduced me to logitech mouse, I bought a Logitech G5 and up till now, the mouse is still alive and kicking after like 5years +.

Recently, I'm getting a additional new desktop, hence was thinking of getting a new mouse. I actually really like Razer's Design but its poor durability has made me shake head again and again. Hence, I want to ask any forum users currently using the Razer Mamba and any issues with their mice, and how long have they been using...

It's been some time since I bought a Razer mouse, and maybe their durability has improved.

If there's not much reply, I probably go for the latest Logitech gaming mouse.

Hi, been using a mamba close to about 3 years. Its still responsive though there are certain quirks/issues to it. As its made of rubbery material, it wears off and it pretty troublesome to maintain as dirt refuses to come off. The rubber sides can come off and also contribute to the dirt being stuck under (Have to push the sides back in). Wireless works pretty well but the main issue is the switching btw wired and wireless as its not instant and may require replugging cable, turning it on and off etc. There is also an issue with detecting while bootup (either wired or wireless) which may require the same solutions as switching. Battery life is so so and due to switching issue makes me use wired most of the time. Responsiveness wise, I am unable to tell the difference btw wired and wireless

i got the current gen of deathadder n its predecessor.
both do not hv the sticky feel liao.

Stickiness from normal usage no. But stickiness after cleaning then yes (using a damp cloth), it's pretty annoying to me that a normal plastic mouse do not have this issue but the mamba faces this issue due to the rubbery plastic material they used. Forgot to mention that the mousewheel gives off a loud squeaking sound when scrolling so u might want to take this into consideration too. Bottom line, make sure the razer mouse u get isnt made of a rubbery plastic/parts

Since u mentioned logitech, g500 or g700?
Alternatively the Razer ouroboros, same price as the mamba

same here...been using the mamba for 3 over yrs already...using the wired mode since the batt dies off of old age, else everything wking fine...paid almost 200 bucks 3 yrs back....lol

I actually love the rubbery part as it provides grip and probably anti-oily-fingerprints, but I'm guessing that are different types of rubbers. I'm actually concern about the Mamba having the wear-off rubbers, how bad is that?

And I was actually thinking the G500 rubber was quite okay? It is the same as a G5? Im using a G5 now, although it is a bit wear off now but not to the extent of a bad condition.

I have no idea about the g500, but at least from reading reviews it seems to be a rather good mouse for its price and the complaints seem to be mostly about the side buttons being a tad small. The issue of the rubber for mamba is that it wears out and at least for me, the left mouse button is slightly sticky as a result of it. I think that the combination of weather and usage would contribute to this, as I had my razer lycosa (rubber edition) having this issue of wearing out. I have no idea of the 'new' mamba edition, but for the old one, they used a rubbery finish for the top and has two rubber pieces on the extreme left and right which requires u to push it back as the corners have a tendency to fall off. Dirt accumulation happens around that area which results in the need for something long and flat to dig out the dirt btw the rubbery sides and the mamba. The larger gap btw the top panel of mamba and the sides doesn't help when cleaning. Again something long and flat helps (this extends to the back bottom of the mouse where dirt accumulates)

Just upgraded to the G700, the sides are textured which makes it easy to grip. Wireless and wired switching is instantaneous unlike the mamba which has this problem from day one. No idea about battery perf as I just got it not too long ago. Batterywise, its using a rechargeable AA battery so it can be easily replaced. Mouse is more sealed as well so maintenance shouldn't be an issue. Have yet to experience the jerky movement that some users have reported, will have to test more I guess. No dock unlike the mamba but a cable is provided so can be used wired as well

Within less than a month, my Mamba died on me. Charging dock was still working as you can see the light at the base. Tried charging the mouse itself, no go. Tried using it wired, no go too. Plus, the firmware that came with it was seriously a pain to get it working unless you run it as administrator. If not, it won't even detect the Mamba.... Also, the battery sucks big time. After 5 hours straight, you need to go wired. Plus it takes a long while to charge up as well.

On the flipside, it feels great in my big hands and the buttons are well placed. Other than this, the negatives outweigh the positives for me to recommend purchase.

Using the Logitech G500 now and i'd recommend it to over the Mamba anytime. Plus, it costs half the price and would sit well with gamers on a budget.

Anyways, just my 2cents
