Re: Booking.com & Ctrip.com hotels bookings

Hey fellows,

Anyone booked China hotels on Booking.com & Ctrip.com?

Once you've book the hotels on these two sites you will get a confirmation from them, but do you need to contact the hotels directly to confirm again just to make sure?

Thx for your reply.

Booked from booking.com before, was good ... they should be under agoda ...
ctrip no tried before, people mentioned it was reliable ... their price seems cheaper than agoda and expedia sometimes ... booking.com prices doesnt seems attractive for my 10+ trips this year, so wont book from there usually ...

I tried looking at other sites, but booking.com seems to have more choices. ctrip does have few hotels not listed on booking.com so I'll try them also. Heard from friend that it's better to contact hotel directly to double confirm reservation just to be sure. But not all hotel staff there read english.. must contact them in chinese... =:p

From my past experience, if u visit the Ctrip Chinese page, u will get more choices and cheaper rates.

even for the same hotel, it is cheaper in chinese page than in the English page. So if u can read Chinese, visit the Chinese websites to do ur search.

It is a good practice to call your hotel ahead of your stay to confirm that they have your booking.

Confirmation from booking & ctrip is standard, but I heard from a friend better to confirm again with the hotel itself, just in case. My friend had a booking from booking.com, but the hotel said not in their system! Lucky they still had room that day...

You don't want a situation where you show up at the hotel after a long flight and airport transfer only to find that the hotel does not have your booking, that it is with their HQ or something, the front desk cannot decide to take you because they are full etc etc.

Yep, horror of horrors when your family is with you. Will definitely need confirm with hotel directly to be safe.

Normally my practice is that if I book hotels , I will definitely email them ...
Ensure that they have received the bookings ...
to include requests, such as connecting rooms, etc

however, some hotels might not reply to email ...
hence, if worse case, would have to call in to check with them if there is a need ...
