Re: Laptop Recommendation

Hi,

which best value laptop will you recommend for:

Use as a daily laptop at home. Mainly for watching online streaming shows, surfing internet, downloading videos and music.

1) Price Range - $800 - $1300

2) Screen 15 inch plus

3) Battery Life - Long battery life will be good, coz watching shows, surfing net. (dont really use it to play any games)

4)Weight - reasonable, no need super light. (2kg plus also can)

5)Speed - Ram around 8gb Fast and good for it's use.
(should i get SSD?)

TS states he want 15" or more, MBP without retina only available in 13"

I would suggest taking a look at Aftershock M-15

For these type of specs, you can easily get one for under $600. If you know how to. It will not have a fast CPU, but your usage does not require one.

I mean seriously? A Macbook Pro for such light usage? No no no... unless you print money.

I would personally get a low-specced 15.6" laptop, then bump it up with 8GB of RAM. That will give a decent enough speed boost. Stick in an SSD if you must to boost it further.

Total cost? Not more than $600.

Do you really need a large battery? Are you going to use it a lot in areas where you do not have power supply?

Get any cheap 15.6" laptop, add SSD and buy a laptop power bank like the Energizer XP18000 and you're good to go.

both have problems if he want to watch shows.

from your recommendation only 1366x768 will be available. :s22:

i don't think he's really into performance, but more of an entertainment laptop. a low resolution screen would cause more eye strain and tired more easily. and it spoils your eyes in the long run (faster) and your brain (headache).

try finding one with a 1080p screen if you're aiming for 15".

what is the advantages between Apple MBP vs normal windows OS?
Looking for a laptop for my son too.
For school work.
Is is true the IOS does not required an anti virus software?
If MBP installed with dual OS, any concern?

If for school use. Better go for Windows unless you planned to run Windows under iOS. Why "slow" down PC if your primary use is Windows?
