Hi All

Before I head down to SLS, just need advise what will be a good rig for Photo Editing, budget about $1500++

Not really into Gaming, but really need a good Graphics Card....

Any recommendation??

Just get a 3770 or 4770, > 8 GB of memories. Don't need fancy quadro or firepro, just a normal graphic card will do esp if you are not into gaming.

You need a really good monitor. What kind of monitor are you using?

If working with a lot of RAW, u need More RAM. A normal gfx is fine enough imo.

Then an IPS monitor for truer to life colours.

And a i7.

But if are not a heavy photoshopper user, a normal i5 will do just fine with loads of RAM.

Would be easier to recommend if u tell us hat u normally do on PS.

I shoot in RAW and process it in PS and Lightroom..... file size can be very big.... currently using a Ext HDD with Firewire connection.... will prob pop in a SSD as well..... but ya... likely llo at i7.

B85 boards generally support up to 32GB RAM while H boards only up to 16GB RAMs. So, you can always upgrade your RAM in future easily if you feel that you need more.

And for your case, I think you will need to partition out a space on the HDD to divert the amount of write that PS does during its operation so as to lengthen your SSD life.

I don't think this is true at all, H boards are generally more expensive than B series board, and they do support up to 32GB of RAM. AFAIK, the only difference is lesser SATA and USB ports.
