RE: Technical issue for new setup

Hi, All.

I need some advise on these 2 issue.

1. Is it possible to sync these 3 items RGB.
ASRock Polychrome SYNC
Logitech LIGHTSYNC
Corsair iCue

2. My motherboard does not have USB type C (20 pin) E header (Female) socket for front panel, the 19 pin E header for USB 3 had been used for 2x USB A front panel.
Is there an extension or converter for 20 pin (Male) to USB C or USB Type A so that I can connect it to the I/O on the back of the motherboard.
So far I'm only able to search and found there's,
19 pin to 20pin converter (USB A can't use) or
19 pin to 20 pin splitter + 20 pin to 19pin adapter to share this 3 I/O using same internal 19 pin socket.

Quick answer to this is NO. The longer answer is that there is a 3rd party project called Aurora that is trying to bridge the gap but unfortunately not everyone is participating as of today. I have heard that even the ones that they do support do not work that well so keep a lookout for that.

I personally have 3 pieces of software that I am using for my ARGB setup: -

  1. Gigabyte's RGB Fusion - this controls the lighting on my Motherboard, AIO display/Fans, RAM and GPU
  2. Corsair's iCue to control 6 x QL120 Fans - these to me are the best on the market
  3. Razer's Synapse to control my keyboard, mouse, mat and casing lighting

Personally I quite like the subtle lighting/animations so I tend to match up the 3 with minimal with a green based colour since I have Razer stuff and I'm happy with it.

2. My motherboard does not have USB type C (20 pin) E header (Female) socket for front panel, the 19 pin E header for USB 3 had been used for 2x USB A front panel.

I experienced the exact same problem and had to get a USB hub to overcome this. NZXT is the brand I got as their hub is magnetic and can hook pretty much anywhere you want in the case.

Search the forum for ARGB threads and you will see more details about what other people have faced. Hope this helps - I struggled and learned the hard way at the beginning :s22:

Hi Bro,

Thanks for the advise, will look out on the Aurora.

The Nzxt only USB 2.0.
I'm looking for USB 3 or C :)

Not a problem. From what I know the ARGB gear all come on a USB2 header so getting this should resolve your ARGB issue. If you need more USB 3 or C headers that is a different problem and should not be related to ARGB.

RGB uses internal USB 2.0 headers usually. Not 3 or C.

Hi Bro,

it's 2 different issue.

My 1st question is if possible, I wanna sync all 3 device RGB.
However seems it's unable to and most.

2nd question is regarding my casing front panel I/O
It got 2 x USB A port (USB 3.2 Gen1) being using by the 19 pin header.
I got another USB type C front panel I/O but my motherboard do not have the 20 pin header and I'm looking for any possibility to connect it :)

This is my front panel I/O

https://www.bojiada.com/pic/big/2019-10-12-15-5-41.jpg

The USB C looks like this but I don't have the socket for the header on my motherboard.

So far I found the following methods.
https://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=871&area=en

1 of the solution is to use this but this mean my 2 USB 3 type A port will not be able to use.

https://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/1313378/width/500/height/1000/flags/LL
Another method is to use this and the Silvertek adapter.
Which mean 19 pin split to USB C & 2 * USB 3.

Still trying to find is there a cable or adapter which I can connect the 20pin header to USB A or USB A female to be connect to my back I/O.

If you die die need the front USB-C then you can DIY by running a cae from the back to the front.

But honestly, you should either just live with the rear USB-C or get a motherboard in the future that has the connectors you need.

DIY unlikely as I got no knowledge unless able to find steps online.

My motherboard I overlooked and thought it got front USB C. :s13:

What he means is running an extension cable from the back to the front. Will most likely have to be outside of the case unless your going to start cutting holes.

Back only got 1 Thunderbolt USB C.
Unless I use a splitter and re run a totally new cable.
Else the extension cable also cannot fit my Front I/O USB C cable cos the connecting header is different.

The header look like this...
