Does anyone have any idea on how to port the online version of Straits Times onto the eReader? I was hoping that it can be done so that I can read the papers while on the train.

You may have to wait for Creative's ebook reader. The last news I heard about it is that Creative is going to team up with local news publisher to make it easy to read local news contents.

I use Calibre and schedule it to grab RSS feeds from The Straits Times webbie daily... Works well. Can create "recipes" to load RSS from any website you're interested in easily in fact.

Out of curiosity:

  1. Will the RSS feeds provide the full stories or just the summaries?
  2. Will the stories be classified as they would be in the papers?

You can only download the free part of ST with calibre, which are only excerpts of articles, consisting of just a few first paragraphs (not summary). Very stingy. :D

Anyway, you get only few articles (more like teasers) a day, so it's not really useful.

These are some RSS feeds picked up by Calibre:
http://www.straitstimes.com/STI/STIFILES/rss/break_singapore.xml
http://www.straitstimes.com/STI/STIFILES/rss/break_sea.xml
http://www.straitstimes.com/STI/STIFILES/rss/break_world.xml

After you download the content from ST using Calibre and sideload to your reading device, you have to click on the headlines in blue to go into full article or just advance to next page on your reading device and you will see the full article. If you subscribe to the paid content of ST Online, you can request for a special Calbire recipe to read all the paid content from ST.

I'm interested to sideload full contents also. Any idea how to do it or how to request for a calbire recipe?
I have access to the paid content of ST.
