have to agree with xKazelous, it doesn't support the ALC888S (acer aspire 5930).

but the driver indeed work with ALC889 (gigabyte H67MA-USB3-D3). SRS works for SPDIF, dolby advanced audio works for both. quadrophonics seems broken, but 5.1 surround mode with center and sub removed solves the problem.

dts and creative seems not working so far. will see how it goes. thanks to TS for the effort. at least dolby advanced audio is far better than vanilla speaker fill from realtek. :D

update:
it seems that Dolby Advanced Audio V2 (movie or game mode) doesnt work well in 5.1 mode with center and subwoofer removed. the center and lfe channel will be missing. also, when using headphone port no vocals can be heard in movies. however switching it to music solves the problem, except there are in fact not much processing done in music mode, just some pre-amp gain to make it sound louder for headphone users. also, unlike prologic II, the adv audio still kicks in when 6 channels of audio is present with blank data on the rear channels. usually in prologic II it will be disabled if 6 channels of sound are present, regardless of blank audio is playing on the rear or center.

in stereo mode, all dts dolby and srs works perfectly. excellent!

overall good job for ov2rev for providing this useful add-in for realtek. it's a shame im only using 4.1 speakers for this setup.

i'm not sure, i don't have any cracking sound..

but please kindly wait for stable release..

for people who have problem with detecting audio device for Creative X-Fi

Uninstall realtek driver and creative driver and do a manual search for creative left over file..

because i have tested alot of brand and netbook, all passed

Asus 1215B = Windows 7 64bits
Asus 1000HE = Windows 8 64bits
Gigabyte EP45-UD3P = Windows 7 64 bits
Gigabyte 945P Pro = Windows 7 64 bits
Gigabyte P67A-UD4= Windows 7 64 bits
Gigabyte P67A-UD7 = Windows 7 64 bits
Gigabyte H61m-USB3 = Windows 8 64bits
Gigabyte A75-S2v = Windows 7 64 bits
Gigabyte A75-UD4H = Windows 7 64bits
Gigabyte 890GPA-UD3H = Windows 7 64bits
MSI 890GXM-G65 = Windows 7 64 bits

all the above list have been tested with modded v2 driver, all passed

Stable driver for modded v2 release!

I did manual search for creative left over file & folder then I used Driver Sweeper I even found AmbRunE.dll in the Startup the manufacturer is creative so I deleted that too and still there is problem.

I tried stable driver for modded v2 same problem :s13:. I'm now only using realtek modded v2 driver.

Thank you for everything and the modded driver :)

decided to try install again without creative thx suite on acer 5930 (alc888s). surprisingly it works! as with the alc889 for stereo playback all features are working perfectly.

huge thanks, i hope many new features can be added for multi-channel users in the future. :D

so guys, if you're using stereo speakers / headphone and realtek in 64bit machine, be sure to check this out...

I'm confused you tried
Modded V2 = Problem
RealTek Modded V2 = Working

As this is using realtek drivers anyway and they are modded version 2, surely it's the same damn thing :look:

It works!!!!!!

Like some people using ALC888S, I had problems with installation, specifically by using the Asus setup provided.

After doing everything, it had the "select another audio device" problem.

This happens because windows somehow reverts to using the default drivers instead of using the Realtek drivers.

So what I did was go msconfig and select diagnostic startup, and press okay and restart.

After that go to the place where I have extracted the files downloaded. The folder is called "Realtek High Definition Audio X-Fi Mod R2.66"

In that folder, went to Driver and selected Setup.exe, then there is popup to install unsigned drivers and pressed okay and then restarted.

After that, ensure that "Realtek High Definition Audio" is under the Device manager. At this point sound is not available as service is not running. So go msconfig and choose normal startup and restart, and everything works!

i tried everything and its still expired. it is the original trial version of xfi mb for Asrock motherboards so you dont need a modded driver.xfi mb in your package activates without problems. i think i have to delete something from registry to reset the trial. how do i do that? i already tried ccleaner and it doesnt work.

and can you mod a this the only perfectly working driver for my hp compaq 615.Compaq 615 Notebook PC*-* IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver - HP Business Support Center x fi do install on it but doesnt work.

i don't understand your sentence

IDT High-Definition isn't Realtek driver, X-Fi do install but no mod driver to enable X-Fi driver

I like to see what motherboard it is? and os 64bit or 32bit?

when installing this mods, i'm using win7 32bit, the sound feels different.
more brighter than before..
the problem is i cannot use the xfi launcher, because 'no audio supported'.

maybe i should changes for 64? :s22:
