Rear Windscreen (help needed) with photo

https://www.dropbox.com/s/79h31cpyub...75715.jpg?dl=0

Parked at my usual multi story carpark.

Went to work in the morning at about 5am.

Then realised that my rear windscreen was VERY wet.

I thought to myself, shatter huh?

Immediately looked at my other windows. Nothing unusual.

Break in? But nothing was lost. Cashcard and gps both in front of me.

Got off the car and had a closer look

Really shattered into a million pieces:s11:

Coe expiring in JUL

Where can i replace a Nissan Sunny rear windscreen? i dont mind scrap parts as long as it is cheap and last 2 months.

Any help is greatly appreciated Thanks

does your insurance cover windscreen? Should be able to claim for FOC.

Tape it everywhere. You might also want to tape plastic on the inside of the windscreen. If it shatters , you will have a easier time clearing it

Not very safe.

What will you do if you're driving around on bumpy pot-holed roads and the rear screen completely gives way and hit somebody sitting in the back seat?

Or worse, you're driving at high speed on the expressway and the rear screen suddenly detach completely, flying off and hitting someone driving/riding behind you?

Viewed your pic.

Just a suggestion, look for self stick clear plastic at diy shop.

Need two person to apply.
Start from center area and work out. Outside guy assist to counteract your pressure spot when applying.

Once inside done, do same to the exterior. Follow by waterproof the surrounding edge.

Rear visibility may not be clear, drive cautiously.

I notice you have a child seat, it would be rather irresponsible to not do anything about the rear windscreen.

You should remove the glass asap. Then either cover it with a plastic sheet and tape it down like what some vans do, or get a new windscreen swapped in. Leaving the shattered glass there is a bad idea.

Thank you Newcell. not sure why it hasnt cave in yet but i cannot feel the crack. can see the lines, just cannot feel it

thank you wacko, no one is in the car. it happened one morning and no one else sat in the car besides me. it will be scary to have glass all over my child. even if i choose to tape it up, i am sensible enough not to allow any pax onboard. in fact i have already decided on calling cabfor tomorrow too:) thanks for the concern though.

btw i already found a place to get it replaced for $170!

so i have to thank everyone for contributing.

yup, thanks for your kind concern too
if you all realised, i did mention in my first post
- Where can i replace a Nissan Sunny rear windscreen?
- i dont mind scrap parts as long as it is cheap and last 2 months.

will be replacing it brand new + labour only $170
some scrap yard wanted $100 for an old windscreen and i have to find my own garage to install it.

i must admit i am rather tempted to practice what van drivers do. hehe

post 12 and 13
hmm. you concur? thanks too:)

Luckily it's a Sunny, they're everywhere!

bwahahahhahaa thanks

i will renew coe just to make sure that there will always be a sunny everywhere!!

(cos i cannot afford new car)

sunny is indeed a military tank. it hasnt had a leak for 10years now. both radiator fan broke down before but had it done for $90. aircon never spoilt before either.

how weird is that. so the glass shatter was even more interesting. i was thinking to myself "wth is this?" and after days now, i am wondering how it happened haha

Probably someone dropped something on your windscreen. it's tough but things like ninja rocks can break it.
