Hey, I'm gonna get a new rig to replace my current 5 years old one.

Budget: ~1.5k include monitor

Do not need: OS, Keyboard/Mouse, MS Office

Usage:

  • Not into gaming, so I guess a decent mid range graphic card will do in case I do play some, but won't be hardcore type, and not those looking for max setting type.
  • 16GB RAM - Will be doing Development work, VMs, etc

Monitor: I am thinking either the Dell 23" or 24" one, but not exactly sure which one would be better or worth it. If get 24", rig budget will go down and vice versa.

Speaker: A decent, cheap maybe (~$50-70?)

HDD: Will require a 240-250GB SSD, and reuse my 3 SATA HDD.

Casing: Decent <=~ $100 (Sharkoon, maybe?) should do the job. Oh, hopefully comes with cable management friendly.

Let me know if I miss out anything. Thanks.

PS: All local, no Amazon.

I see 2412 is 450 in Dell website leh. That's like 200 bucks more expensive than 2340.

but eh i just see that 2340 only got 1 hdmi and one vga.

im wanna do a dual screen with one connected to my tv through hdmi/dvi. vga like not very ideal leh.

Speakers more like you really need to go down and beo leh.

Sound is subjective. It is hard for us to tell you what we like and what we dont.

More of your personal preference haha. Sounds that we may like may not be what you like.

Yeah I understand that. But I'm not a sound person, so long got sound coming out can liao. not unknown / buzzy sound lah.

So with the budget, -50-70+, if you happen to know one, then let me know.

Look ok, but I don't think need i7 though. i5 should be sufficient. although I did state that I need VMs and such. not extensively though.

eh, coming weeks is 1 or 2? or 8 or 9? big difference you know? :s13:
and is there a huge difference between now and those refreshed?
