Did you carry out this hdd in your bag?
Buy ssd if you intend to travel with your hdd everyday, especially if you always throw the bag kind of person.

I suggest you buy one WD 4TB and one Seagate 4TB HDD. This is a safer option.

That's not too bad. My 8TB Seagate Backup Plus Hub died the third time I plugged in it. :s13: Removed the casing and using as internal HDD now.

I am using this USD 250 combo for 2 TB of NVME SSD goodness.

Cost wise and speed wise, it will smoke any other SSD or HDD combo.

All can be bought from Amazon US.

1. INTEL 660p 2 TB M.2 NVME SSD
- cost USD 199.99 ( or cheaper )

2. SABRENT USB 3.1 Aluminum Enclosure for M.2 NVMe SSD in Gray (EC-NVME)
- cost USD 49.99

Paiseh, sorry to hijack this thread. My old harddisk has crashed and I bought WD Blue 3.5 hard drive. How to do I format and re-install Windows 8.1. I press F12 on start up but there is no option to format the harddisk. Pls advise on the steps required. Thanks all.

Boot the Windows CD or thumb drive.

You then need to create partition/s on the HDD and format them. Select the formatted partition to install Windows.

Thanks Koenig168 for your help. It's been many years since I last changed a hard disk , already lost touch with all the IT stuff. Finally managed to install successfully. Now to fix the internet portion - another headache for me. Thanks again!
