Recommend a budget rig

Need some recommendations as I’m quite out of touch. Helping my bro to build a budget rig.

Budget about $500-700.

Main usage: Playing games like Company of Heroes, Mafia 3 at mid-high settings at 1080p, mobile games on NOX player, and the usual web surfing/youtube.

Will be re-using Palit Geforce GTX 950 StormX Dual 2GB DDR5.
No need 24” monitor, mouse & kb, speakers, and OS.

The 950 is a very old card though.

Use 100bux get an rx570 from aliexress... Build a cheap ryzen rig around that.... Much more worth

Price wise, while there are dab rigs on the market for around $30, you will need to pay well over $100 for a decent quality device.

I3 is 9100f, same 4core 4T anyway . I remember I had a core2 and 2600xt gfx card to play company of hero b4, can run pretty smooth

CPU, MB, PSU, HDD, Ram, Casing....
It is a tight budget....
I am gonna suggest on the basis that you will once again upgrade your rig in future, therefore changing or adding one or two things are enough to make that happen.

CPU+MB: Asrock B450M + Ryzen 3 2200G @ TradePac - $202
B450M isn't a super budget board but still a budget board for mainstream. It can house better cpu so if next time you wanna upgrade again, changing cpu will easily give you a boost.

Ram: CRUCIAL BALLISTIX SPORT 3200MHz CL16 Amd Support 1*8GB @ Dynacore - $68
The ram is really hard to decide. I want to suggest a 2x4gb of reasonable speed but problem is, there seems to be none locally. Buying oversea will be too expensive due to shipping cost. After pondering awhile, I decided to suggest you single stick, while it does impact game performance but given your current gpu and cpu, it shouldn't be notable. Again, in future if wanna upgrade the rig, just stick another of same speed and capacity in, and you good to go.

PSU: Corsair RM 650w (10 Years warranty version) @ Dynacore - $137
Personally not a big fan on saving money on psu. Good psu last for more than 10 years thus a good one can be reused over and over again.

Nvme SSD: Adata XPG SX8200 Pro 500gb @ Dynacore - $135
Same thing as PSU. Nvme SSD gonna last for a long time as well. Even if 500gb isn't enough space in future, still can use it as windows drive.

Casing:
No idea. I don't look into casing often. Good casing usually last for 20 years. I only change casing once over these 20 years of using. I am now using fractal design defined but that should be out of your budget.

The usage you specify 2200G is adequate. But if you need to play some other higher demanding games or do more demanding productivity task it is better to upgrade to R5 3600 if you got more budget. Will be better just in case in future you want to play other AAA games. The extra cores and threads will yield better performance and FPS for your gaming needs.

“future-proofing” sake and for ease of upgrade of individual parts in the future is get a motherboard that can support x3950 properly. I prefer auros elite or asus prime p. Reason, b450 tomahawk max is overpriced now, selling ard 180 - 190. Add 30 to 70 can get a decent x570. Pls go thru the videos and understand why.

That will be subjective.

I can only inform you that Ryzen 4000 series will be out aroud end of the year, AMD claim it will have around 17% more performance than Ryzen 3000. Ryzen 4000 series will be the best CPU and last upgrade path for the current AM4 mb which is your yet to be bought mb. So you can either choose to skip Ryzen 4000 and opt for 3600, or you can get a cheap Ryzen now and upgrade to Ryzen 4000 later.

However, I do recommend getting ram as early as possible as ram price has been raising steadily.
