Recommend a external DVD / Bluray Drive

hi guys!

anyone can recommend me a external DVD / Bluray Drive? i still buy CDs and Blurays and wanna rip them digitally. so far only saw results for these two.

anyone using them? would love to hear your thoughts. thanks!

Ok here's how ripping works...

You rip a disc...

You compare the rip against the internet to verify that the bits are all correct...

Then you download the rip from the internet anyway because in terms of law ripping is the same as downloading

Nothing beats the old 5.25 inch drives. I believe I've ever own 2 external drives, one was a DVD reader, and still have a LG Bluray writer. Both seems to perform very badly, i.e can't read certain disks and performance ain't great. So honestly, I don't know what to recommend you if you are looking for a good external drive.

I share the same sentiment, the sad thing is some PC cases don't even have a 5.25 drive bay these days.

point noted. thanks. guess i have to manually rip it on my spare PC and transfer it to this PC.

I have an external LG blu-ray rewriter which is still working fine after 7 years and an internal blu-ray reader in storage. Quite indispensable for ripping blu-rays.

I learned my lesson after losing a big chunk of my laser disc and DVD collection to disc rot, some of which were irreplaceable.
