Dear all,

My rig's been around 10 years, over these years as components wear and tear i replaced the parts accordingly. Please refer to the Jurassic setup on my user's build specs on the right if it interests you :s22:

It is nearing the end of 2017, I have decided it is high time to jump onto the fiber bandwagon (Still on ADSL :s13:) and get myself a new rig.

Body parts wise, i would like to stick to slightly above average tier, as i game on a rare basis; probably only Dota 2.

CPU - Intel i5k-ish grade of CPU (recommend me? :) )
MOBO - clueless probably going for Gigabyte
RAM -16gb ram and nothing too fancy
CPU cooling - Air cooled
GFX - Cluess, a $500-ish gfx card will be fine
PSU - Recycling a 750W superflower PSU
SSD - Samsung 960 Evo 512gb NVME SSD
Maybe 4TB secondary storage HDD

Problem:
My hardware fetish has always been with enthu full tower casing, I like big, solid and nice casings. However upon recent window shopping trips to SLS, i find little is left of the golden years where shops display their wide selection of full tower euth level casings. May i know where can i shop for such casings or find them?

Current case: Silverstone TJ07
Budget - $500-ish

Appreciate all valuable inputs.

Thanks in advance and cheers!

Other then dota 2, any other application u will be using? Like productivity tools?

Based on your usage so far, a mere g4560 + A cheap gtx 1050/1050ti will do.

i think you could extend the life span a little more by gettting xeon chip for your old setup.

My usage in descending order:

  1. Outlook
  2. Youtube
  3. Anime
  4. TV series
  5. MS office
  6. Light gaming - Dota 2, maybe some MMOs

New rig, so i would like to hover around the above average tier for gfx card for future proofing. :)

Recycling an old Dell 24" U2412M as well, so i doubt i will be diving into the 4K scene anytime soon.

this is true... or for upgradable sake, just get the i3 8100 and z370 board. The current 8th i3 is similar to 7th gen locked i5

I suggest you buy the RAM first. Prices seem to be going up every few weeks, currently around $230 to $370 for 2X8GB.

For full tower case, you can consider the Phanteks Enthoo Luxe at $279

Thanks for the reminder on rams.

Phanteks looks good, will add to my list for consideration. Thank you again! :)

Appreciate the input bro

Actually my rig is still working, just that my only SSD died on me. Was debating to just replace the SSD or the whole rig; but no time is the right time i guess.

Any idea why the ram is getting more and more expensive?
