I'm thinking about getting a gaming pc, I have 0 knowledge about what's what and who's who when it comes to pc hardware so I am here to ask for help. It's going to be used almost exclusively for gaming, I don't do editing or rendering of any sort. Would like avoid building it myself too.

I enjoy playing FPS games, open world games and MMOs. If it's new and interesting I will almost always give it a try.

Not too important but if at all possible I want to help support a local company. Unless you all tell me local companies all cmi. :(

My budget is 2.5k, maybe can stretch a bit more if it's really worth the value.

Actually, you can visit aftershock.com, do your own customise from their website to get an idea.
The graphic card RTX 3060 is minimum.

Correct me if I'm wrong but just from browsing around reviews, aftershock is known for good builds, good value but not so good after care service is it?

Thanks for the recommending 3060, at least now I know where to start at for gpu!

No worries, at least you get an idea to build a good PC from the specs you want.

Personally feel dreamcore > aftershock for aftersales service. Dreamcore also open up their new experience centre, it looks good from photos. Maybe can go pay them a visit?

min specs:
11400 (intel) / 5600x (amd) w/ any cooler that's better than stock cooler
8x2 3200mhz
1tb ssd (preferably m.2)
backup ssd/hdd if you require space
3060 (nvidia) / 6600xt (amd)
modular gold rated psu, probably 600w and up.

All the best hunting. These specs should give you a comfortable fps even at 1440p. Don't forget to budget for monitor and peripherals.
