Recommend a good point and shoot camera

Hi all,
I'm trying to get my father a good point and shoot camera. He would be bringing it for an overseas trip for casual pictures that would look good on computer.
He's quite an amateur in photography as for myself too.
Would really like someone to recommend me a good point and shoot camera.
Budget could be something like $800 and below.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.

You might wan to try Sony DSC-HX90V. I like the 30x zoom with the ZEISS lens.

Been using the Canon G7X for almost a year now, it's really the best point-and-shoot camera I've used, although I have also used the Sony RX100M2 (Company camera). It's easy to use and the pictures are really very good, I have friends thinking I've used a full-frame DSLR to take the photos. The only bad thing is that the battery life isn't so good (about 200-240 shots per full charge), but that can be solved with an extra battery. It should be available at major camera/electronic stores for about S$700.

Hi guys, thanks for the recommendation. Previously, I was reading on Canon G7X and it was mentioned that its actually more for camera enthusiast who knows how to do the tweaks for camera settings in order to get a good shot. Is it true? Would a person like my dad with close to zero experience just point and shoot away with still good pictures?

I use Panasonic lumix lx5 now. Come with Leica lens. Good enough and very simple to use. Picture quality is very good IMHO.

Now have LX7 if I am not wrong. If u have deeper pockets, go for the Leica version.

can use Auto or Scene(SCN) selection mode.

However, if u require more zoom then can consider the Sony WX500 or HX90V. Downside is their small sensor size. But performs pretty well for outdoor with daylight.

Second these suggestions... probably one of the best cameras out there.
