want a quiet and low temp card.. something like my current 670 direct cu2..

Bro they are roughly the same just about brand preference and pricing. The 780 is abit lower temp though

If you want quiet card then get the gtx780 by msi. Very silent.

Of cause gtx780 will be more expensive at $730.

R9 290 is at $630-640 without bf4.

msi 290 - looks are nice but hotter and noiser than sapphire's

evga 780 ftw out of my budget

they are all good cards but some drawbacks IMO for each brand:
sapphire - 2 years warranty
msi - Abit on the higher side for a 290
asus - most ex card and the premium paid does not justify much for the performance gained...

Different cards different coolers.

MSI - Twin Frozr
Gigabyte - Windforce
Asus - DirectCU
Powercolor - PCS+
Palit - Jetstream
Leadtek - Hurricane
Sapphire - VaporX

Some cards are cheap and some cards are not. They all have different cooling capabilities and also how effective it can be depending on their technology of their heatsink and fans used.

You are paying for the cooling capabilities and probably a redesign of the components used.

Among all DCU has the best thermal handling. But their cards are too overpriced. Their heatpipes are thick. Fans arent that quiet when it is on load.

Among all Twin Frozr is the quietess card. Not too good in thermal handling, but their "helicopter" look alike blades are the quietest.

Among all Jetstream is the only one that has the thickest heatsink among the rest. Of cause not counting in cards like Asus Matrix cards etc. They are one of the few that equipped with white LEDs in their jetstreams. Quite quiet fans.

Among all Windforce is the longest card. With having 3 fans depending on models. Some have 2. Having a larger surface of heatsink and thinner heatsink. Thinner heatsinks with larger surface also gives the fan cool the heatsink easier. One of the slightly noisier cards.

Of cause not forgetting the base clock speed out of the box. Some brands have high base clock out of the box because of their cooler used. Cards like asus top/matrix. Msi lightning/hawk. Sapphire Toxic. Powercolor turboduo/devil.

This few cards have different capabilities in them. And also a redesign of components used and pcb redesign. And also heatsink redesign from their regular coolers thus the stock speed is very different from their regular heatsinks.

After checking some online reviews, it seems that Zotac's AMP edition, Palit Jetstream, Gigabyte Windforce custom versions of GTX 780 Ti win the ASUS one in terms of temperature, noise levels and performance, even though the margins aren't that significant.

But the Zotac and Palit's are priced around SGD $100 lower than the ASUS' GTX 780 Ti. So I might consider these.

780 pricewise, MSI and Asus seems to not have much diff between them.
