Hello all, as thread title, hoping that someone could recommend a laptop for me to work on doing like multimedia computing, game development, game engine fundamentals and most importantly 3d modelling, animating, rendering etc

have a few in mind already but would love to seek some expert point of view!

perhaps a budget of 1.1k but willing to increase it for the sake of doing work!

i know that a desktop would 100% be better and efficient but i would prefer a laptop than a desktop because i will be going around alot. and hope to work from home and office and other places.

please also PM me if anyone can help me MORE!!!!!!

thanks all!!

wow 1.1k for such a laptop seems quite adequate. if youre doing minimal rendering and game development then its fine but if you do it frequently or at high intensity i'd suggest you up ur budget to around 1.5-2k

maybe u should consider aftershock laptop, not because i had it, but u can customize it .

Disadvantage of Aftershock is bulky

The brand look nothing, but u can custom 3 to 4 harddisk.
Anyway alot of stuff is not worth to upgrade.

when u purchase any brand, just at least

1) SSD harddisk a must ( i been using 1 year already compare 12 laptops which i helped my company to purchase, their laptop is between 6 to 15 year old, most of them already slow down and lag even using simple excel and word is not working smoothly.

2) Memory at least 16gb, ( i forgotten which software that can show u how many percent harddisk, CPU, memory are using. U will see CPU and harddisk seldom use above 30% , but memory always around 60% to 99%. Once Memory hit about 90% and above, their laptop slow down.

My background job:
Est i help company purchase laptop at least more then 20 sets per years ( min).
Some brand is good however in long term, maybe should look into this 2 upgrades will save a couple of years headache( lagging will still come back unless imac 6 years still don't feel any lag). My company sometime disagree to buy over $1500, end up alot bad feedback return to me to fix. my job sian due to no choice , company don't listen my advise and buy some budget laptop. Only executive staff can purchase better laptops which i recommend.

* take note that SSD lifespan is lesser then normal harddisk. ( info from one of the harddisk maker)
