Recommend a rig

Upgrading my wife's C2D E6400, P965 DS3, leadtek 7900GT rig after what seems like 9 years.

Budget of about S$1.5 - 1.8K (soft, setting this just as a discipline), reusing a phillips monitor, 1080p reso.

Usage wise, light gaming, but could scale up depending on her interest.
Thinking of this, but not sure if the balance is there, overweight to mobo.

yep... sort of but its not exactly gtx780 sli or i7 so im not exactly splurging.. but seems like PC prices have fallen quite a bit so with 1.5K we can build something quite decent. in the old days, 2x1gb ram was near to S$300. my d930 processor, which frankly isnt great, would already cost me about S$350.

my objective here is really to get views on the balance, whether im putting too much into the mobo when im better off putting more into the gpu, etc.

Well, if she is gonna do light gaming, drop the Z87 mobo, k series CPU, change the 770 to 280x or something lower, get a 1tb hdd as well.

If you are using it as well for high end gaming, den get the 280x sua.

shes more of a gamer than me. but im thinking of building another for myself. i dont game much, but i used to play a bit, BF2. (ya damn long ago). so i might just get something similar, or just play bf4 on my ps3. im the kind, build a gaming rig, but dont really use it to do heavy gaming. I think i use it more to do video processing (converting, etc).

she used to play oblivion. more intensive graphics wise than me. but now she just plays those ipad apps games.

Why not go small for your wifey rig?

the point is wifey happy = me happy. not a good idea to build a weaker pc for her while i build a monster rig for myself.

I think you will be better off diverting your budget to visual and audio, and even haptic enhancements.

Even cheap PCs nowadays are monstrously fast.. Now i sees it as first world problem.
