Hi Bangkok pros!

Can I for some recommendation for airport transfer?

Should I just take taxi into bkk itself or should I take the Airport rail?

My hotel is relatively near to Ratchaprarop station, so I was thinking if it would be cheaper to just take train instead of taxi?

Each rail tickets i think would set us back by THB 150. But I have no idea how much would the metered cab fare be?!

We are going in a group of 5!

Personally, I would just grab a taxi, unless you want to take the adventure of lugging your luggage to the train and then off again. If you are going now, be prepared for sudden downpours. :)

If you do take the taxi, just tell the taxi counter that you want a maxi-cab. :) Airport fare is 50 baht + taxi fare + toll charges.

As I have mentioned in my previous posts, it is better to have some small notes, ie: 20s & 50s so that you can pay the taxi driver at the tolls, so at your final destination, just add the final fare with the 50baht airport fare and that's your final amount. I rather pay the toll directly because if you let the taxi driver pay for you 1st, you may be confused as to the final toll amount (you may pass through 2-3 toll booths) and the taxi driver may take the opportunity to scam you out of some more baht. :)

Chok dee krup! :)

Thank you guys for the reply!!

May I ask if the Maxi cab fare would be more expensive than normal cab?

I been to Bkk once and I took cab, I can rmb the toll charges is required and extra airport surcharges.

If 5 person all took rail, it will be 150*5= THB 750.

Wonder if a Maxi cab can take me into bkk within the range of THB 750 - 900??

Anyone happens to rmb how much does the cab fare cost from the airport to your hotel? I do know everyone hotel is located different. But I would like to have a gauge!

Thanks!

I remembered taking the maxicab with only my wife and I. Charges were the same. Airport to hotel in the MBK area, about 450baht, or thereabouts inclusive of airport fare plus tolls.

Yes traffic jams can be pretty bad but I rather be in a taxi than lugging my luggage around BKK. :)

150 baht is for express tickets, the normal city line is 45 baht only, so 45 x 5 = 225 baht only, still cheaper than a cab, it takes about 24 minutes to reach...

Took the cab from sukhuvmit soi 2 to airport, took around 45 minutes to reach there. The price is around 230B , excluding 75B toll fares:)

Wa I did a simple comparison myself.

Taxi: Around 355 (All toll inclusive) for 5 pax. Thus per pax = THB 71
Airport Rail: THB 45 per pax

Savings for taking Rail: 71-45=26 THB (Agar per pax save SGD $1)

hahah! Very indifferent! Either I choose to take cab to send me direct to hotel, but run the risk of traffic jam, or alternative, take train to the nearest rail, confirm no traffic jam, but need to walk and find the hotel nearby...

Conclusion: Taking Rail is as cheap as the cab, if no traffic jam, take cab, if got traffic jam, take airport rail!

I am taking Jetstar, arriving at 845! I think I wun not be meeting the traffic jam since it is so early right?

you will land at 845am, don't forget luggage collection and immigration. Chances are you will leave the airport around 945-10am and viola, right on rush hour. Welcome to bangkok.

Hi everyone,

If I am landing at 355pm Bangkok time, staying at Sathorn area, near Chong Nonsi BTS. Is it better if I take a cab or the Airport Rail?
Does the jam starts at that time?

Thank you.
