I use an aluminium foil on the basket everything I fry something to prevent the oil from corroding the basket. Perhaps you can try to see if it helps.Take note that in Mayer airfryers, there are metal screws on the inside of the gasket as well as the main body. Make sure you wash and dry after washing or these screws will rust and taint your food.
I've already thrown away 1 Mayer airfryer because of this issue. Even the frying gasket itself can rust.

My philips air fryer bought in 2010/2011still works well. Want to upgrade also no chance.
I did a continuous 4 hour frying during my kid's birthday celebration outdoors before. Fed 30 pax. Its really a workhorse.
That’s good to know! I was blessed with 1 like 3 years ago but I still have it in the boxMine is from 2012. Also working very well still. My helper(s) do the cleaning, so never had an issue with that.
phillips airfryer, can find cheap on qoo10 with delivery to your house. no need lug back from courts or anything
Philips air fryer is good but the price is abit on the high side. Also it's hard to clean the coil. Most people don't clean the coil because they cannot reach the back of the coil. Basket won't rust for philips. Time for me to try out other brand to see which is the best.
