Recommend an Upgrade from DMC-GF6K?

Hi everyone,

I bought an Panasonic DMC-GF6K back in 2013. Am happy with it but since I'm an avid traveler i'm looking into the possibility of upgrading my camera. (if budget allows)

Again, this time round my requirement is still non-DSLR...(I'm a Auto-mode guy)...prefer not to have 1 that requires me to own a Dry cabinet...budget would be still below $800...

any suggestions??

I would recommend Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 III.

If you prefer Panasonic, I would recommend Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS50

Adviseable to have a dry cabinet. Doesn't matter pns or dslr.
Our local weather is humid so chances of fungus growing on lens glass is high. Of course on dslr lens is noticeable becoz of bigger surface area as compared to most pns.

Do add this additional cost when upgrading.

If auto mode shooter, actually don't need mirrorless, it may over complicate things. Use iPhone better, seriously not trolling

As for dry cabinet, any lens will require dry cabinet to prevent fungus, doesn't matter its big or small lens or brand of lens etc

In my opinion, if you intend to shoot automatic, then is no point getting ILC /DSLM / Mirrorless.

If you do not have / inherit any sony lens, I would recommend getting a 18-50mm lens. The last time I accompany my friend to get a sony a6000 two weeks ago, the a6300 maybe over your budget.

If you shoot weekly (once a week?), I would recommend you get a dry cabinet before mushroom grow on your gear.

For a start, I would recommend getting a 35~40 liters cabinet.

Your GF6k is already an ILC camera.

All camera is best to be kept in Dry cabinet due to Singapore weather. So don't matter if a DSLR or NON-DSLR.

You might like to consider the GF8.

granted that mine is a m43, i'm looking to step up from that...gf6k is actually Auto-mode friendly...in fact too friendly that would hinder me from learning manual mode. i hope a6000 is just the right step for me to venture into manual mode shooting.

i seem to be under the illusion that bigger sensor size leads to better quality photos...hence i'm interested to get a bigger sensor size camera to test it out...

as mentioned above, i find that the gf6k is too auto friendly, and led to believe that since it is m43, i could get better quality photo with bigger sensor size...

but since budget constraint i couldn't get full frame and had to settle in between (aps-c) to see if i can become better.

i'm also thinking of getting a prime 35mm lens after reading that f/1.8 = big aperture = faster lens = good for shooting those arty portrait clear background blur photos = able to do better in low light environment e.g. shooting in a pub/club

is my understanding true?

also i'm looking to develop some 4Rs out of my a6000... that's why i invested in this camera...hopefully it is a class above my iphone 7 plus
