I have plans to retire in Msia. Which bank have many branches, will be the safest to park my money, have many ATM machines and easy online banking?

PS: Even better if i can open my personal account in Singapore.

I think CIMB or Maybank...I think they are the top 2 largest bank in Malaysia if not wrong...RHB also quite big presence...

CIMB have 0.8% interest in Sg and CIMB has a good and easy internet banking where you can pay bills too.

But personally, I used UOB bank as feel more secure with a Sg bank. Also can pay bills but not many branches in JB. Usually go to the City Square branch. Have a personal banker there as I took equity loan of S$400k before and parked it there. He still gives me sms market updates though most money taken out.

Agree.. CIMB or Maybank.. probably the only 2 i will use. Don't park too much in Ringgit though. Long run, SGD will still appreciate against it. We are a nett import country. Hence a strong currency appreciation trend has always been MAS policy so that we afford to get our essentials.

SGD may not have high savings interest rates. but the long term appreciation trend works like an interest rate in growing your funds.

But also don't put too much in SGD savings account. That will be silly too. Put in SGD denominated assets i.e. property. Govt savings bonds (est. 2% avg), REITs. Fixed Ds also pay horrid rates so not ideal for long term savings.

… a Singaporean said to a Malaysian friend …

Malaysia is a really good country … man!! :s13:

A year ago, I exchanged RM2.3 million for S$1 million, and enjoyed life in Singapore … eat, drink, gambled, played gold, stayed in best hotels ..

A year later, I’ve used up S$200,000 :s22:

Now, I came back Malaysia and exchange the balance of S$800,000 into RM2.4 million. :s12:

I enjoyed one full year in Singapore FOC, and still can make RM100,000 :s12:

Who says your Malaysian government is no good, huh?

Super good man!!
