From our recent trip to taipei, the hotel concierge at 圆山大饭店 was telling us it costs 2400ntd for first 4 hour block, then an additional 600ntd per hour thereafter ( for booking taxis for longer durations )

* We subsequently learnt from the taxi driver the taxis will pay an unofficial stipend/referral fee back to various hotel concierges based on hours. *

Yes. I ask my hotel refer a taxi driver to me for my day trip before. Quite long ago.

Was quoted 13-14k for 2 days, inclusive of 1 night stay.

27th morning (10am) from TPE to Yilan.
28th from Yilan back to TPE at night.

Is the price reasonable? Thinking to book him or self drive instead

Any advice?

Taipei to Yilan by bus just 1.5hrs. Round-trip ticket only about NTD 250/pax.
OR

Via Train. Also about 1.5~2hrs. Round-trip ticket only about NTD 500/pax.
Get to view the Pacific Ocean on the eastern coastal of Taiwan.

After reaching Yilan, you can move around with bus/cab/uber.

Worst case, book a driver in Yilan. It will save you a lot of $.

Can I get a sense of how much it cost to get a driver for 9 seater in taipei/hualien area nowadays?

I got a quote from a contact recommended for NTD8k, I understand this driver charges above market, but am wondering how far above it is. Thanks.

If 8K is for the smaller Ford T6 or Merc Vito... then this is expensive... if 8K is for the larger VW Crafter or Merc Sprinter... then this is cheap... go google see the difference in size... and see whether if the smaller vehicles can fit all your luggages...

If you are hiring for multiday multi cities... need to check whether is the 8K inclusive of his accommodation as well...

Hi thanks, just checked its hyundai 2015 starex. luggage wise I don't think there's any issue, as we are travelling with 5 adults, and one toddler. any thoughts on this car model? haha

No comment on the car… haven’t sit in one before… but suggest u get a few more quotes before committing… seems a bit expensive even if it includes accommodation for driver… 8K if top up a bit more can get those luxury 9 seater 保姆车 liao… got individual captain seats, can watch Netflix on big TV etc…

Lastly any driver contact u would recommend? esp if they have luxury 保姆车 haha! Definitely don't mind that lol.

You only 5A1C... not quite worth to get the 保姆车... but if you want to travel in comfort and willing to spend... why not... PM me if you are serious about it... will send u my driver contacts...

If the driver quote you 10k does it include his own accommodation?
