Should be just fine if using the three apps only, though LINE and WeChat app size may be heavy and hogged the small 2GB RAM.

I gotten a set as spare phone for family and put in a TPG SIM, works well for basic use, for your usage for messaging, it should do fine. Quite surprised by the performance for a Mediatek chip. Do drop by some Mi Stores/Zones run by Era, they may be selling it at $99 for the 2/16 version.

Just realize redmi 6a dont have fingerprint scanner, mean have to always use power button to wake the phone. Any issue with power button hard to press after prolong usage?

I encounter the power button on my old redmi note (3 and 4) device always have power button issue after few month of usage and have to replace the flex cable to repair it.

Can't comment on that for now since I only used the phone for a few weeks. I did enable raise to wake and double-tap to wake so as to rely less on the power button. I do agree with you on the prolonged power button usage issue on Redmi phones, it was especially bad in my first Redmi Note 4G.
