You have to watch out power savings settings, usb suspend feature, USB shared bandwidth infrastructure and human behavior of pulling stuff out at whim... It's either fine or you suffer from stutters/ inability to load(mainly due to certain encryption or anti-cheat/kernel software) or at the worst corrupted drive.
Just go for any of the newer external ssd that has usb 3.2 connectivity. Of course, ensure your pc has a corresponding rated port to plug in... If you have butter fingers, get one with a rugged casing.
