Recommend Laptop for aging parents

Hi Experts,

My mum whose in the 60s will like to get a new laptop. She will be doing/learning mainly on simple and basic ms word, excel and powerpoint functions such as typing a report, typing some words in excel and creating ppt slides.

Besides this, she'll probably just use it for youtube and do zoom meetings.

Is there any bang for buck laptop you'll recommend her and where can I get it? The lower the cost, the better.

She'll prefer a new one instead of a second hand one.

For this type of basic usage, the overall size and ergonomics of the laptop matter more than the internal specs. Suggest you look around at physical stores to see what models appeal to her and fits your budget. No point getting a so-called "bang-for-buck" model that she doesn't like.

Any laptops from 12 years ago will work. Age doesnt have to do with anything.

probably look for 15" or 17" basic laptop that meet ur budget.

like the one above mentioned, for basic laptop, no point to look for bang-for-buck laptop.

So your mother knows the MS programs well? In my experience, with ageing parents it's best to get them over simplified devices like iPad's. Can. Can get Office for iPad installed and your settled.

You don't need to go for the pro as the standard one should do. With a laptop I had a headache with software related issues (since I migrated them to iPad no problems).
