hi all! planning to get a laptop for mainly programming/virtualization with the following criteria.

1) 8gb ram (will be doing a lot of virtualization so i think i need the memory)
2) light

I don't really have a budget but do try to keep recommendations to as economical as possible. Much appreciated!:)

Have you Checked HP laptops? if i am not wrong dell are more expensive then hp laptops

yup already did previously, at that price range there are some models that have specs a little better than vostro. however, i doubt the difference will be noticable in real life.

Are you buying for school use? 2kg will die one. and 2kg is not even including the adapter, which is fairly heavy for big laptops.

I think you need a Quad Core Laptop with 16GB RAM

How about msi GS60 ?

i dun think quad core is a must here due to the fact that i5 4200u has hyperthreading.

i think 16gb is an overkill with programs being more memory efficient these days, but i do agree that the ram has to be upgraded.

what i feel must be upgraded is actually the hdd. thinking of getting an ssd to replace it and use the hdd as a backup.:D:D
