Hi everyone, would appreciate your help.

trying to cut down on gaming and my faulty gpu is doing a good job ensuring that.

but every year at this period, with the bf sales, hard not to get tempted to upgrade my computer.

would you guys recommend me to upgrade my gpu, or get a new computer? using this machine from jun 2009.

thanks

when is usually a good time to build rig, or when is the period of most sales? i have not built 1 before but read up quite a lot on building. maybe i should try despite my fear of damaging the parts..

Right now, flagship gpu models from back then should be going at clearance price. Check the sales thread at the buy and sell forums.

That one quite ok lah.

Some boards will indicate what pin is for what de.

Like my MSI Asus board got indicate what pin is for what purpose. Some dont have lah. Some is labelled as pin 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 etc then must follow the manual guide. IIRC gigabyte is one of them :s8:

no need to upgrade yet. Just wait for broadwell.
your system is still ok. Just need a card like 270x and you be ready to go.
Your quad core is still better than amd fx.
When broadwell is out, then upgrade. Cheers!
