Hi ppl,

My trusty t3 died after like 9 yrs? So need a replacement

Was thinking of katana but the USB input seems problem and I still using my xfi sound card so if use 3.5mm, sound would be bad

So thinking of logitech Z623
OR Kilpsch promedia 2.1 bt

Budget not more than 500. Can advise? Would prefer subwoofer

Z625 with THX and optical input seems to be a good choice, especially it is priced at $199 now compared to $245 thereabout without promotion.

JBL LSR305. Can add a subwoofer IF you feel the bass isn't good enough.

Don't waste your money on gaming speakers.

Anyone tried the creative iroar? How would it fare as a desktop speaker?

Depends on what you call "desktop speaker"

But for around $299 bucks...

$259

$329

Just look at the above speakers, and tell me whether you think iRoar has any chance of sounding better than them.

Now, if your definition of desktop speaker is something that is the size of iRoar, then yes, iRoar is a good desktop speaker.

Haha yep..due to desk size constraints am looking at something with a small footprint

If you got $400, buy iloud micro monitor

If you got $200, buy Bose companion 2

If you got ~$100, buy Creative T20/T40

That's for small footprint.

If your footprint can be bigger, there are other options.

Haha..sorry to (already) hijack the thread.. But im ruling out 2.0 systems. I actually currently have a creative t40 but due to a new monitor & planned sff pc being placed on desk, I likely only have space beneath the monitor

That said, my budget is 300 and i prefer a value buy as long as the sound is decent.

Was looking at the iroar, ue megaboom, bose soundlink mini ii, jbl stuff. Most online reviews seem to prefer the non-creative brands but im not sure if it's due to the portability or sound quality. For my needs, quality is paramount.

So...i guess im looking for recommendations :) TIA!!

Edit: that said, smallish 2.0s ~might work too. I did read that iroar provides soundbar like performance tho. Any thoughts on that?
