Recommend me a speaker (from creative t3)

Haha..sorry to (already) hijack the thread.. But im ruling out 2.0 systems. I actually currently have a creative t40 but due to a new monitor & planned sff pc being placed on desk, I likely only have space beneath the monitor

That said, my budget is 300 and i prefer a value buy as long as the sound is decent.

Was looking at the iroar, ue megaboom, bose soundlink mini ii, jbl stuff. Most online reviews seem to prefer the non-creative brands but im not sure if it's due to the portability or sound quality. For my needs, quality is paramount.

So...i guess im looking for recommendations TIA!!

Edit: that said, smallish 2.0s ~might work too. I did read that iroar provides soundbar like performance tho. Any thoughts on that?

You see ar, all the reviews and models you read are comparing portable speakers against other portable speakers, so naturally there will be products that are 5-star in comparison. But when you compare portable speakers against, well, bigger speakers, then they all sound horrible.

Creative products don't get much reviews because:

1) Not enough products sent to big reviewer sites
2) Not enough market presence to generate enough interest for reviewers to want to buy them and for readers to want to read that review
3) Not enough performance/price ratio overseas - Singapore prices are considerably cheaper than overseas prices

Define smallish 2.0. I see T40 is out.

How about Aego M for a smallish 2.1?

2.1s are hard to accomodate due to the woofer. Would prefer my floor to be clutter-free (everything on desk)

Ofc ive not been able to personally test them side by side..but iirc in another thread here someone mentioned sth like the soundblaster roar 2 wouldnt be much different from desktop speakers <200 sgd

Would be happy to hear from ppl who've tested both. Smallish meaning i prob only have 15cm-ish to accomodate both 2.0s? If they were to be placed beside my monitor.

Just take note portable speaker despite they sound good.
If you intend to use them as desktop speaker, the internal
battery will wear out.

2.0 that is small size?
Usually the sound is average only.
Unless you got budget for this:

A pair will cost about $600.

Or KEF Egg but also $600.
Have to managed expectation, if you want to shrink size than usually
it is just a average speaker.

Aego M is a good choice you can mount that if you want.
The woofer wise you can hide it no issue.

i am using Creative Katana currently. Very pleased with the quality, bought it at a relatively cheap price too (~S$270)

only problem is that it sometimes auto shutdown or will hang when i pull out the usb that is connected to the speaker from my laptop.

Not too sure if TS is referring the USB problem to that.

Small speaker always will be meh no matter how they engineer it. Just diy some stand or wall mount if desk really no space. Rather listen to a decent entry earpiece than portable speaker.

Get the B&O Beoplay series. It does sounds great and you can carry it around also for some of the models.

Ive looked around a bit more and size wise the iloud seems to fit the bill (over the budget tho). However, the other options like companion 20 and a2+ seem to cost the same @ sgd400. I might as well get the iloud then?

Also, would it compare favorably to the other options listed here? like r2000db, aego m, d1080..

On a desk iLoud sounds warmer, but R2000DB has more bass volume and extension. Overall I prefer iLoud for desk. R2000DB sound is dryer (lacking midrange) and more suitable for big rooms where warm speakers will sound cheap instead.

Personally I prefer iLoud over R2000DB if no EQ is applied.

I know it is a dumb idea to compare speakers through a video, this channel does provide me at least with some ideas, the difference between 2 speakers.
as much as i would like to audit if possible, but things dont always goes our way :*(
