Recommend me MB+CPU combo

I want to rehaul my aging PC.

Currently using I7-4770K and can feel it's a bottleneck for more demanding games like Shadow of Tomb Raider and Anthem 4K resolution despite having RTX 2080 ti. I tried to read online articles but I got so confused at different generations of chips etc. I'm getting older and I just want to keep my setup simple but still fast. Do not plan to overclock, I will just leave everything at default setting or just let MB auto overclock.

Other components I have either purchased or reusing from current setup:
Palit RTX 2080ti OC
WD Black 500 GB SN750 NVME SSD
Corsair Vengeance 2X8 GB DDR4 2400

I would like a MB+CPU combo, Intel or AMD does not matter. I also would like a built in WIFI. Budget not more than 700 if possible. Local or Amazon does not matter.

Get a amd ryzen r5 3600 + a wifi mobo.

You will need to get better ram though.

Yeah, might wait, but not sure if improvement going to be big. My i7 is 5 gen old already, graphic intensive game like Shadow of Tomb Raider even with AA turned down can only average 45-50 FPS with my current setup, and I really want a consistent 60fps for my 4K gaming.

For gaming, basically i7 liao, wait for 10th gen?

Not planning to overclock, so does a high frequency RAM improve performance?

Get a amd ryzen r5 3600 + a wifi mobo.

You will need to get better ram though.

Ryzen performs better with high speed DDR4. At current prices, just get DDR4-3600 as the price difference from DDR4-3000 etc is small.

Might be above your budget though. But yeah if you can get that go for it. That said purely for gaming purposes not much difference between 3700x and 3600.

Yes, Ryzen requires a higher frequency RAM. 3200 or 3600 is good.

If get new combo now. Better go to AMD. Zen 3 coming with same am4 socket. The upgrade path is certain. Intel one is dead end.

Wah, your 2080ti is probably just stretching its pinky in the 4770k system. For your budget a 3600 or 3700x is good. Get a B450 board will do. Ram matters minimally if you are gaming at 4k (gpu-limited), so I will personally use your existing ram

Thank you all for the recommendations. After some further research, I’m considering buying I7-9700 with Z390 MB combo. Tentative plan is to buy CPU only from CPU Themes and then Gigabyte Z390-UD from Amazon. Then a PCI-E WIFI/Bluetooth card. All add up slightly under 700$.

But with 12/12 coming up I want to see if there are some good deals for bundles in Lazada.

You have too much money is it.

A normal person will buy a third gen AMD Ryzen 7 and a Mobo + separate WiFi card, and might still have enough leftover to get a 1TB SSD or 16GBs of RAM.

Jokes aside, it's not just about AMD vs Intel. 9700 locked is just terrible value. At least get a cheap 9700k or 9900k if you going the Intel route. You spent so much on GPU liao, what's a few 100 more to the system.

So I went Ryzen route, bought MB + CPU + RAM within my budget.

Only $626 total in the end and I can get additional SSD from the saving.
