SH plan coming to end soon and plan to retire my current S3 (I know it's ancient but usable).

No need the best but don't plan to get the cheapest either, else no point 'upgrading'. Considering getting a mid range phone, narrowed down to a few choices. Leaning towards phablets with big screen.

- LG G3 (hard to find)
- Sony C5 ultra (like the size)
- Nexus 5x (export set)
- Redmi Note 2/3 (some say cmi)

Welcome recommendations :)

Thanks

What's your budget? Any specific requirements, e.g. you play games, you shoot photos, you need battery life, etc.

Phone mainly used for chat, music, surf web and talk. Prefer larger screen and battery life. Most phones now battery non removable. Don't mind if can diy and replace myself.

Leaning towards nexus 5x, want to try stock android. Some say Redmi cmi but some say ok.

Usually carry a iPad mini for email, reading and video.

Redmi Note 3 got large 4000mAh battery, large screen too. Also have Snapdragon 650, performance on par with Snapdragon 808 devices

Can ask..

Xiao Mi Note vs Xiaomi Note 2. Which one better?

Note released quite sometime ago, processor good? (the price on non-contract is so much diff)
Xiaomi released Mi Note 2 already(?), or do you mean Redmi Note 2?

Mi Note is an ex-flagship, while Redmi Note 2 is an affordable phablet with decent specs.
Processor wise, Mi Note's SD801 is older than Redmi Note 2's Helio X10, but the experience on Mi Note will be better as the components you get are flagship-grade.

Pricing wise, the RRP for Mi Note and Redmi Note 2 is indeed a great difference but street prices for Mi Note is around $350, which is only a few hundred more than Redmi Note 2.
xiaomi Note 3.. I read online that the SD card slot is shared with one of the dual sim slot.... means can only put 1x sim card + SD card?
Redmi Note 3 (Snapdragon 650) supports dual SIM and also SD card expansion, but if you use two SIMs then you can't use SD card, vice versa.
Eg. 1 micro SIM + 1 nano SIM or 1 micro SIM + 1 micro SD.

ZenPhone Max from ASUS. Cheap and good. With 5000mA battery, can use it as a power bank too.

Definately one of the contenders, the BIG battery is :s22:

but don't like bloatware slowing down phone and display and camera ...

Recently managed to smoke out one rare brand. Elephone P8000 with 4165mAh battery. It has pretty decent spec considering the price. Not sure if it's good though since never really use one.

Between redmi note 3, nexus 5x and lg g3

redmi pro

nexus

lg
- larger screen, removable battery but hard to find.

Which would you choose?
