Hi everyone, would need some recommendations on a notebook merely for surfing net and working on simple stuff like excel, word and PPTs.
Brand, size or colour doesn't matter but hopefully below $700 with 8G Ram possible?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Possible.
Brand new or used.
Preference as in light, storage, screen size & resolution.
At least some idea of what you want beside for.

Meanwhile let your finger do the walking.
Do read other threads for some idea.

Preferably brand new.
Other parameters like you mentioned doesn't matter really.
Maybe one of those 2 in 1 could prove more practical if I intend to bring to office?

I'm basically clueless when it comes to notebooks as I have been using company issue for a good few years.
Looking for one right now cause I'll be leaving the company and merely just need one for office work eg.

Net surfing, Microsoft office excel, word and PowerPoint.

You are not clueless as you are already using it for years, if you have not notice.

Basically most, if not all, come with Microsoft Office the basic.

While waiting for more inputs from others.

Whenever there is a free time take a walk to IT shops.
Look at the price range and features.
As stated 8GB RAM is one basic.
The other is storage with at least 256GB SSD or 128GB M.2 for basic system partition.
If possible additional 2nd HDD as additional storage. Even 500GB would do if price is tight as this can be replaceable.

Screen wise you can get used to current then stay as size /resolution increase so is cost.

Let the sales do the talking and ask as many questions as possible.
Even same retailer sales may say differently, not to afraid to seek 2nd opinion.
Learnt from my boss..
Don't commit but gather the info n details.

Selection.
Put it here and there will have others able to advice which is best & to avoid.

Finally there are 2-in-1 where laptop also serve as tablet, as it is common.

Do not consider dual as Windows and Android type of 2in1.
