recommend PC for me

Dear experts, seeking help for PC recommendations.
Use case
1. intend to game on at least 2k monitor, for games like cyberpunk, hogwarts, spiderman and FF7 remake
2. intend to get windows pro for hyper visor which i will load a Linux
3. Linux for coding experiments, running docker applications etc, also gpu passthrough for CUDA if possible
4. maybe a pesudo NAS storage as well with 1 of the VM

would like to check
1. usually i get mid range cpu (i5) cause only for gaming. but if i want to VM linux, do i need a better CPU? if yes, how much better? do i need to go up to i9?
2. is 32gb ddr5 ram enough or do i need 64gb? i don think i will be running cluster

I am thinking of mainly
13th gen I5 (non k series)
RTX 4070TI
32GB ddr5 ram
1TB SSD
4TB HDD

do let me know if i need to soup up the specs.

depending on your budget.. pocket got money, all also ok. No enuf can always add.. find i5 too slow, sell the i5 then upgrade to i9.. 32gb not enuf upgrade to 64gb.. just get 4 slot motherboard and populate 2 dimms, leaving 2 slots empty to upgrade if needed.

btw nobody uses hdd anymore especially for new build. Get a 2 tb ssd instead..

Can also consider AMD Ryzen 7 7800x3D (If they stop exploding) since it is a capable gaming CPU.

GPU is better to get Nvidia since AMD can't catch up to it in terms of price and features.

Also, m.2 SSD 2TB is affordable now so can consider that.

For HDD, 12 TB is only $288 so you can consider that. very cheap now.

I could recommend Lian-Li Lancool 216 for case.

depends on how many concurrent vms u are looking to run. but i hear that vmware in general dont do well with intel's hybrid architecture, so u may want to look at higher core count amd cpus (eg. 7700/7900).

32gb should be enough for 1-2 vms, but also depends on how u configure ur vms.

lol no, hdds are still far more economical in terms of $/gb. for the price of a 2tb nvme u can get a 1tb nvme + 4tb hdd, which in total is more than twice the capacity compared to just nvme. have also been building new pcs with hdds in them over the past couple of years.

not 100% true, amd gpus are usually cheaper with same or better performance, though ts has to go nvidia for his use case since he needs cuda.

You get what you pay. Let the money in your pocket do the talking...

there is no right size.. you can make do when your budget is limited.

Programming part not favourable for AMD Ryzen build... some code will not compile properly.
SSD now so cheap... mechanical drives running VMs... lag like fxxx.
mechanical drives to store Seafood farm especially prawn is fine, but not for running VMs.
No budget, of course, can just made do...

I just use Dynacore prices, I super lazy to go and flip other pricelists since I am on mobile

Though yes for some items other shops might be cheaper sometimes
