I will be using the computer for web surfing, photoshop and movies. I am kinda of an audiophile so I want a good sound card as well.

Don't know if this makes any difference but I open many tabs and programs at any time to develop my website. photoshop, word, alot of tabs, email, etc. So I need a system that can allow me to multitask efficiently.

I will need OS. I will need a monitor as well but not within the $1000 budget.

any kind soul?

Need Windows and/or Wifi adapter to go along? And what sound system are you using for it?
