okay!
Let's be objective here....

i'm thinking which one should be my main computer:
1) ASUS B85-MG + G3250 - Tradepac @ $159
2) FSP Hexa Plus 450W -550w @ 58
3) 1x8GB Kingston DDR3-1600 @48

or
My current AMD Rig...
- I'm fine no graphics, as it currently supports my needs with adobe photoshop just nice now.

After which, i think i'll add in SSD or top up ram of main computer to 16gb(Not sure necessary)

Any others that i need to do to "upgrade" it....

Use that intel as your main rig and amd to do those sms blast or something like that.

Any reason about it ?
Is it because the processor is faster ?

IF need be, what's a good SSD to run it with ?

Thanks!

You probably should consider increasing your RAM already, 4GB is the bare minimum in today's standards

Says who?

I am running GIMP on Linux on an old spare computer with 1GB of memory and no performance penalties.

With desktop effects and window transparency enabled as well.

in terms of VALUE, Would G3250 vs i3 - 4170 be much WUHUA?
I mean based on my usage... If it's not necssary i won't want to spend on i3 processor

Well I was running Clip Studio Paint with Firefox running in the background, and that consumes about 2.5GB

You need to keep in mind that TS is probably a Web Developer and Chrome is a memory hog like Firefox :s13:

On my current Linux rig with GIMP, FF (8 tabs), 2 PDF viewers, 2 file manager windows, Thunderbird and a BASH shell open, total memory consumption is only 1.5G.

Add in Chromium with 4 tabs and it goes up to 1.8GB.

Totally manageable with only 2GB of max memory.

Anw, i can upgrade it?
Used since feb 2014...

It's still working fine. Just that sometimes it will auto restart, don't know why. like it just cut off by itself and restart.

agree to replace tat CM PSU. oso my late recommendation is to swap out the ddr3-1600 ram with a pair of ddr3-1866 sticks, and put those 1600 into the weekend PC. tat 2gb stick just dump it in the recycling box at selected Singapore pools outlet and buy some 4d huat ah!

What's wrong with this psu that you guys feel it's necessary to change?
What do you recommend then?

I placed my old 2gb ram into this computer to speed up.

But does 1333mhz& 1600mhz & 1866mhz all makes a lot of difference that we show upgrade the ram over?

I've upgraded my hdd to sdd liao...
How should I segregate my content like what to put into ssd or hdd?

Superflower or Seasonic.

Not much difference in actual performance. But having more ram usually helps to make system more responsive.

OS and Applications on SSD.
User Data on HDD.

1) ahhh cant see your main PC listing. I remember its an AMD Richland APU tat works best @1866 DDR3 in dual channel--a pair of identical sticks of RAM placed in the correct slots in your mb. if you use your 2GB stick in there, it will degrade the performance.
2) CM Extreme series PSU is not a quality product, so it might be the cause of your AMD rig restarting randomly recently. The other components like mb looks ok. you can try spring clean it and see if problem recurs.
3) you are upgrading your spoilt AwayFromKeyboard(AFK) rig and buying more RAM to add/replace the 2GB stick. So i suggested buying DDR3-1866 which can upgrade a bit your AMD rig, while also upgrading your AFK rig by reusing the DDR3-1600 in it.

Thanks for your thorough explaination.

How would you know when you need to upgrade the ram as currently the ram is 8gb?
And how much is enough.

Spring Cleaning revolves just cleaning the dust away from the computer right?
How would a proper spring cleaning be like?

my AFK unit, i somewhat gonna throw it all away liao...
Saving my HDD and ram for other usage...
As just bought a refurb computer, so most probably will use the ram for that refurb computer.

THanks!

I open windows task manager and monitor the memory usage while using the computer as per normal. How much to add will depend on your use and budget. But 8gb in main comp shd b enuf liao.
As for spring cleaning, Google cum YouTube are your BFF.
