Recommendation for 1.8k rig

Hi guys, need a recommendation for a rig with a budget of 1.8k. The rig will be used to watch movies and play games like Witcher 3 and Shadow of mordor.

Planning to reuse ODD, HDD and SSD. Also purchased a 650w super flower psu online previously. No need monitor or other peripherals. 1.8k is excluding these items.

The rig will be placed on the floor so no need to look nice, have a side window for the casing etc. But as my room is rather dusty, would need a casing with good filters. I was looking at the fractal design r5 and realise the top portion doesn't have filters. Would it cause air flow problems if I kept the top portion closed? Also, as I'm a tech noob, don't think i will be ocing the rig.

Think for that price without monitor and those peripherals you can go for a 980ti (1k).

My case has top, bottom and front filters - quite a tight weave so to help with airflow i got a couple of gentle typhoons.

What's your current PC specs like? I reckoned that you've build one just in 2012 right? Perhaps many more parts are also reusable.

Current rig has died, can't power on so I can't check tried everything like changing the CMOS battery etc. but still can't power on. So i think the mobo is gone. one of the rams stopped working as well. From what i can remember, the processor should be intel ivy bridge i5 3330 with asrock b75 pro3-m mobo. The gfx is msi gtx 670 and the casing is corsair carbide 400r. Psu was FSP 500w but I already brought a new one haha

Oh previously i forgot to mention that I game on a 1440p monitor

if i'm only going to get some parts, is it better to get it online or at sls? not sure how much discount they give for paying in cash vs the online cc rebates... anyone has any idea?

Has your motherboard pass 3 years? If not better hurry up go down and RMA before it goes out of it. RAM should have lifetime warranty so no issues RMA and getting back a new one.

A new graphics card like GTX 980 Ti will suffice to max out all games at 1440p. You can buy from Lazada or Rakuten, but do monitor for discount coupons up to $50...

Then just get a new motherboard then... e.g. ASRock B75M-DGS @ $89. Everything else can be reused.
