Looking to build a gaming rig for a friend, budget is around 1.5k . Any recommendations? Was looking at this combo any comments? Hoping to get a blue or green led themed cpu :s13:

SSD - Samsung EVO 850 500gb = $220 (Lazada) - $20 (Promo code) = $200
HDD - WD Blue 2TB = $107 (SLS)
RAM - Gskill value ddr4 2400 8gb kit = $50 (SLS)
PSU - SUPER FLOWER 650W Leadex gold =$110 (Getting from friend possibly)
CPU & MOBO - i5 6500 + H170M Mobo = $480 (SLS)
GPU - RX480 = $399
CASE - Corsair Carbide 400C = $159 (Lazada) OR Phanteks P400S
OS - Windows 8.1 = $30 (Reddit)
TOTAL DAMAGE = $1560 approx

Would there be a need for a AIO Cpu cooler for example the h100i v2?

well the ram is kinda hard to get that low though, but anyway pls do consider getting valueram.

As for aio cpu cooler i dun think u will need, unless ur friends wants a silent pc or he thinks he will gaming for like 10 hours.

As for the mobo if u want to save u can get a B150M

Nope don't need H100i. The stock cooler is enough. And just minor suggestions.

Try getting HGST HDD, Lazada has them. Go for value ram, unless its aesthetic wise. The RX480 release is still far away so.... you should re-do the list when its out. :s22:

yup the prices and this is what i found : http://www.lazada.sg/corsair-vengea...ram-2400mhz-c14-memory-kit-black-1134563.html

maybe u can tell me which one with links.

as for HDD, why not make a trip down to SLS to get that HDD, if lazada dun have.

http://www.lazada.sg/corsair-vengeance-lpx-8gb-2x4gb-ddr4-dram-2400mhz-c14-memory-kit-black-1134565.html?mp=1

I was referring to this haha, but now looking at the cost i am considering to get the c15 gskill value kit.

As for the hdd, you guys recommend hgst over wd blue?

-facepalm- cos in ur spec u indicated 16GB (2x8GB) so im like that cheap meh...

the gskill ram just get the cheapest can do, in game u cant see any differences.

if u want 2TB with 7200rpm is only HGST, seagate and toshiba, if u dun mind less than 7200rpm can go with WD blue.
but base on 1 of the hdd failure report that wd have higher rates. HGST was consider the lowest.

I guess I'll just stick to the blue 2tb, will be using it as a storage drive anyway.

Edit: I just realise the toshiba 2tb are around 90-100, but the warranty is 2years only, anyone has any idea on their reliability?

i bought 1 toshiba 2TB hdd about 2 weeks back. Not sure how reliable it is but the 2 yrs warranty is under Kaira for my case. So far so good.

Now WD Blue also comes with only 2 years warrsnty. Somemore these non 1TB models are merely rebrands from their Green series.

Where did you get yours? Can I check if its 5400rpm or 7200rpm?

From all of the price list in sls. All indicate that it's 7.2k rpm HDD.
