Scouting around for a 7". Not in the rush to get but planning to buy 1 soon to make my commuting more enjoyable.

Budget:
-SGD$300-400?

Using for:
- reading. Hope to buy magazines and some books that arouse my interest.
- game. Maybe but not a must. Will be nice to have a capable 7" for occasional gaming like racing or so.
- Movie. Sometime. Nice to be able to play a 720p.

Like to have:
- lightweight but need not be the lightest among it's class.
- storage need not big if there is memory card slot
- need not 3G/LTE since i can use my phone to FB. Anyway, reception in tunnels sucks so don't find a need to spend more.

Not sure what else i can think of but this is for now.
I cannot do a comparison of prices for digital magazines and books between B&N and Amazon. Wondering if anyone can feedback if there is a difference in pricing between the 2 7"? Easy to buy digital magazines and books when i do not have US credit card or address?

Also looking for alternative recommendation if it is decent.
Mainly, a hassle free pleasing reading experience i am looking for.
Hope to get my 7" soon.

Thanks all! :)

Thanks guys!

Strangely, both of you never mention nook or kindle. Are they bad?

My vote goes to Nexus 7(2013), 32GB... Should be good enough to fulfill your needs. Card slot to me is quite optional since OTG works for this device.

Gathering from the threads on "Nexus 7 2nd Gen" and Marketplace, price should be around $400 for a 32GB.. :)

Thanks pal.
Guess everyone is buying from US (PlayStore or Amazon).
Now narrow down to 3 devices Nook, Kindle or Nexus.
Need to research on the pricing of magazines and books and see if there is a difference between the 2 camp: Nook vs Kindle and Nexus

I know u asked for 7" tablet rec but from personal experience i find that while 7" is fine for movies, books and most games, 8" is preferable for mags, comics and internet browsing without being much bigger or heavier. For yr budget, u may want to consider a refurbished ipad mini for ard $378 (full 1-yr wrty). Try it out at Challenger - i think u wont be disappointed - unless u r fixed on Android. The only qualifier would be that it may not run certain video codecs as well as Android but if u r going to be buying movies online from the apple store, it wont matter
