Hi

I'm looking to build a rig with budget of 1.5k to 1.8k (excluding monitor and peripherals)
OS needed.
Mainly using it for photoshop/lightroom applications and for entertainment (movies and music).
Once in a while of video editing and some gaming (can be quite random if theres nice game release)

Like to seek opinions on what are the components I should be looking at and where should I get them.

Thanks

You can check the 'need advice for gaming rig' thread for a starting template for a ryzen build. That one is 3k inclusive of a 1k monitor. You can cut accordingly to your budget

1. What is your current monitor's resolution and refresh rate?
2. What speakers are you having now?
3. Do you use a dedicated DAC?
4. RAW file size?

With that in mind, your total budget is now $1800 + $400 = $2200 inclusive of monitor.

Largely black and white stealth themed.

CPU+MB+WIFI+BT: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 + MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC @ $524 (PC Themes)
Understand you may not need WiFi.
But this comes with Intel Gigabit LAN, Bluetooth 5.0 & Realtek's top end ALC1220-VB audio chip for best in class integrated audio enjoyment + minimal network latencies for best gaming experience on demand + maximise network speed for fastest movies downloading.

RAM: Corsair Vengenace LPX DDR4-2933 CL16 16GB Dual Channel Kit [Black] (Ryzen Compatible) @ $117 (Fuwell)
GPU+PSU: Galax RTX 2070 Mini 1-Click OC 8GB GDDR6 [White] + Seasonic FOCUS Gold 750W [80 Plus Gold] @ $699 (Corbell)
You don't need such overpowered, high end GPU at all for your image and video content processing.
But it definitely provides the prowess you need whenever you feel like gaming. In all full 4K glory.

SSD: Intel SSD 660p 1TB [NVMe M.2 2280] @ $132 (Amazon Prime Now - International)
For OS + Programs + Games + Scratch Disk functions.
HDD: Toshiba X300 3.5" 4TB [7200 rpm] @ $133
CASE: Fractal Design Meshify C TG [Black] @ $145
OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Product Key @ $3 (Taobao)
DSP: LG 27UL500-W 27" 60Hz 4K FreeSync [AH-IPS] @ $499
With image editing and movies binge in mind, maximise your photo editing real estate with accurate colours and gaming in full 4K details.

GRAND TOTAL: $2207*^°

Prices from Lazada unless indicated, exclude shipping fees.
