Hi all!

I've just gotten into building PC etc only about 2 weeks ago so I don't really know much. Hope you guys are able to help me!

My Budget is $1750. Building a PC for gaming/general entertain- YouTubing surfing net research etc.

My current planned build is:
Processor: i5 4690K
Motherboard: MSI H97 Gaming 3
RAM: corsair Vengeance 2 X 4 GB 1600
GPU: MSI GTX 960 2G
HDD: Seagate 1TB
SSD: Sandisk plus 120G
PSU: Corsair CX 430
Cooler: CoolerMaster Hyper 212X
Case: ???

Feel free to give any constructive criticism or if there is any other alternatives that would be more worth it.

1. Am I able to attain the same performance if I go for a LGA1151 build rather than 1150 given the same Budget (or +$100 max)?

2. If so, any recommendations?

3. What would be a suitable case for beginners like me? Preferably <$120

4. Is it positive that it is not necessary for me to go for i7 processors for gaming?

5. Amazon or SLS? And is Amazon valid for GOSF? Lolol.

6. Difference between Main GPU brands?

Thank you so much guys. Pardon my inexperience, I've read quite a bit of reviews and forums but still quite confused. Hoping that someone is able to answer my queries.

PS: apologies if this post is invalid :/.

Definitely look into getting a PSU with higher wattage. Yes 430W technically is enough to support your entire setup (960 requires 400w minimum, so only slightly over that mark). But to be safe, it's better to get something slightly higher, at least 500+W.

if u have money to burn, aim for i7. Those who bought i7 2600 in 2011, the processor still better than any i5 from lga 1151. Overall spend more but save money can use longer

Beginners start with cardboard box

If you dont want max out everything, then i5

Lazada

Different distributor and warranty period

1. LGA1151 is currently more expensive than Haswell. Performance-wise, the difference is less than 10% at the same clock. You can go either way.

3. This is a matter of personal preference. You can even get this if it strikes your fancy. :)

4. i7 is not necessary for gaming.

5. Definitely local for CPU and MB. RAM is cheaper on Amazon. As for other parts, can be cheaper on Amazon or local. Depends. In any case, for a beginner, I suggest you buy local for the warranty. Overseas RMA can be a serious pain.

Hi thank you so much for the reply :). Do you have any reliable PSU Brand’s to recommend tho?

Hello thanks for the reply :)

That case is really fancy! But what I'm concerned about is whether cable management will pose a serious issue to beginners like me! :/

def a better PSU.550 or 600 watts will be good for now, and at least the next 3 - 4 years incase you want to add or upgrade anything. and i think i5 is good enough for most stuff, and also lga1151 for "more" futureproof.
