About 3 degree lower now.
ranging from 40 - low 50s.
Surf net abt 50 - 60c

Prime95 at 90-92C
It hit 90 in 5seconds and i stop the test.

I made the same mistake the first time I did it. So temps ok now?

I don't think the temps are supposed to go that high. Previously I overclocked my 2500K to 4.5GHz and used a Hyper 212. On load, the temps were at about 80 degrees if I remember correctly.

CM 212X is abt 69SGD.
I'm running at stock speed. No OC.
Will it be overkill ?

try to reseat your cooler and reapply thermal grease and check again.

something is wrong. also is your airflow within the casing bad? i normally reapply thermal grease once every 2 years. PM if you call it. :s13:

Im on stock intel cooler.
Tried reapplying twice alr.
Prime95 still gives me abt 90C

My airflow inside should be ok.
2 front intake
1 side intake
1 top intake
1 exhaust

Funny thing is my gpu its only abt 35C

I think that would break the law of thermodynamics?
hot = unefficient
Cool = efficient.

EG. nvidia gtx 650ti boost vs gtx 750 ti.
The 650 ti is way hotter and unefficient.
The 750 ti is cool and is very efficient.

not necessary in this case, hot might be due to total dissipation area is smaller compared to other cpu/processor...

this is the effect brought by process shrinking.

from the table provided in the website, it seems more efficient doesn't mean the processor will run cooler than less efficient counterpart....
I don't think temperature is directly proportional with efficiency

Swap to CM 212x to replace stock cooler.
Temp at idle is 35-40C
Prime95 at 50C

I think is my stock cooler uplorry?
40C differences :eek:

newegg user review said amd 6790k very hot blah blah
but with stock cooler, only around 40 degree with low load ... anyway my usual load :D ... with casing fan, cpu cooler and reduce cpu clock... can keep cool without spending on new cooler
